EVE Online studio becomes Fenris Creations after Pearl Abyss split

The studio behind EVE Online is now independent again and has rebranded as Fenris Creations.

The move follows a $120 million deal that separates the former CCP Games from Pearl Abyss. The two companies decided that independent ownership was the better path after reviewing their long term priorities and operating goals.

Fenris Creations will now be led by its senior management and long term investors. Birgir Már Ragnarsson, co founder of Omega Ventures, is taking over as board chairman. CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson said the transition will not include layoffs, office closures, or restructuring.

The split comes after a strong year for EVE Online. The game reportedly reached record revenue in November 2025, posted its second highest revenue quarter in Q4, and ended the year with more than $70 million in revenue.

Fenris Creations is also starting its next chapter with backing from Google DeepMind. Google is taking a minority stake in the company, while DeepMind will work with the studio on AI research using EVE Online as a test environment.

The partnership will focus on long horizon planning, memory, continual learning, and intelligence in complex player driven systems. DeepMind will use an offline version of EVE Online running on a local server, giving researchers a controlled space to test AI models without affecting the live game.

Here is a quick look at the change:

The studio is not only maintaining EVE Online. It is also working on EVE Vanguard, an extraction shooter connected to EVE Online, and EVE Frontier, a survival spin off.

For EVE fans, the key point is stability. The studio has a new name and a new ownership structure, but it says the transition will not bring job cuts or office closures. With strong revenue, active projects, and a research partnership with DeepMind, Fenris Creations is trying to turn independence into a larger reset for the EVE universe.
