Crimson Desert update lets you refight all 69 bosses

Pearl Abyss has released Crimson Desert update 1.5, and it adds one of the game’s most requested features: boss rematches. After crossing 5 million sales, the studio is clearly still investing in the game with new systems, fixes, and performance features.

The update is available across platforms, except the Mac App Store version, which will receive it later.

The new Rematch system turns bosses into repeatable skill tests

The biggest addition is the Rematch system. You can now return to the site of a previous boss fight, light your lantern, read a Memory Fragment, and fight that boss again.

There are two modes.

ModeWhat it does
ReminisceRecreates the original version of the fight
ResonateScales the boss to match your current progression

All 69 bosses are supported. Consumables used during these rematches are restored afterward, and bosses do not drop loot. That means this system is meant for practice, challenge runs, and replaying favorite fights rather than farming rewards.

The other major addition is Re blockades. Previously liberated strongholds can now be repopulated by enemy factions, bringing combat back to areas that had become quiet. You can control how often this happens through three settings: Stable, Conflict, and War.

At launch, 13 factions can trigger Re blockades across 22 forts and quarries. This should make the world feel less static after you clear major locations.

Patch 1.5 also adds permanent legendary creature pets. This gives you a new reason to revisit some of the game’s most memorable encounters, especially if you enjoy collecting rare companions.

On PC, the update adds built in support for NVIDIA Dynamic Multi Frame Generation through NVIDIA Streamline SDK 2.11.1. This is limited to RTX 50 series cards. Console players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X get a new Sharpness Enhancement option instead.

The patch also fixes two serious progression issues. One bug caused legendary mounts to die as soon as they were summoned. Another caused comrade Trust levels to reset randomly. Alongside those fixes, Pearl Abyss says the update includes combat fluidity improvements, control refinements, and UI quality of life changes.

The timing matters. Crimson Desert recently passed 5 million units sold across all platforms, and Pearl Abyss gave employees a bonus after reaching that milestone. A patch this large suggests the studio wants to keep the game active rather than treating launch sales as the end of the work.

For players, the Rematch system is the strongest part of the update. It gives boss fights a longer life, lets you test builds without replaying large parts of the game, and adds a cleaner way to enjoy combat after finishing major content.
