Chinese DRAM maker SINKER begins mass producing DDR5 RDIMMs for data centers

Another Chinese memory maker is moving into DDR5 server memory as global DRAM supply remains tight.

SINKER, a brand under POWEV and tied to Jiahe Jinwei, has started mass producing DDR5 RDIMM memory modules. The company says it has already shipped its first DDR5 RDIMMs to data centers and plans to keep increasing production.

The timing matters because demand for server memory is rising quickly. AI data centers need more DRAM, HBM, and storage, while major suppliers such as Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron have little spare capacity. That has pushed prices higher and made local supply more important for China.

SINKER’s DDR5 lineup includes UDIMM, SODIMM, and RDIMM modules. The company lists capacities up to 64GB and speeds up to 5600 MT/s. The RDIMM products are aimed at servers and data centers, while the UDIMM and SODIMM versions can be used in desktops, laptops, all in one PCs, and commercial systems.

The company says its modules follow JEDEC standards, which should help with compatibility and plug and play use. It also lists features such as power on protection, shock resistance, and drop resistance.

This is part of a larger push by Chinese memory companies to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. CXMT and YMTC have already been expanding production, but SINKER’s move shows that more domestic brands are trying to fill the gap.

That does not mean Chinese suppliers can solve the memory shortage quickly. Global demand is still much larger than available supply, especially as AI companies sign long term contracts and reserve capacity in advance. But every new domestic source helps Chinese data centers reduce some dependence on Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron.

For the wider market, the impact may be limited at first. SINKER appears focused mainly on domestic Chinese demand, though it also lists some products for global supply. The bigger effect is strategic: China is building more of its own memory supply chain while the rest of the world faces higher prices and tighter availability.

If production ramps smoothly, SINKER’s 64GB DDR5 RDIMMs could become another small but useful source of server memory during a difficult supply cycle. For China’s data center market, that matters more now than it would have a few years ago.
