ASUS has added a Snapdragon X version of its ZenBook 14, targeting the growing group of premium Windows laptops priced below $1,000.

Starting at $799, the ZenBook 14 UX3480 combines a metal chassis, 14 inch OLED display, Qualcomm's eight core Snapdragon X processor, a relatively light 2.87 pound design, and a broad selection of ports. The review unit was also praised for its keyboard, battery life, webcam, and general build quality.

There are some compromises. The entry model starts with 8GB of memory, the display is limited to 60Hz, and the trackpad was less convincing than the rest of the hardware.

The OLED panel uses a 16:10 aspect ratio and offers a 0.2ms response time. Its resolution is lower than some competing premium laptops, but the panel's contrast and color reproduction were among the strongest parts of the tested configuration.

Snapdragon X delivers solid everyday performance

The Snapdragon X processor is positioned more toward efficiency than high end performance.

In regular productivity use, the laptop handled web browsing, communication apps, music, email, and routine multitasking without difficulty. The efficient Arm processor also contributed to strong battery life, with the system described as capable of lasting through a full working day.

The $799 configuration includes 8GB of RAM, which is becoming restrictive for heavier multitasking in 2026. ASUS also offers higher memory and storage configurations for buyers who need more headroom.

Software compatibility remains an important consideration with any Windows on Arm laptop, although the supplied review did not report major problems during normal daily use.

OLED display and keyboard are major strengths

The ZenBook 14 uses a metal chassis with rounded edges and a coating designed to reduce visible fingerprints.

At 2.87 pounds, it remains light enough for regular travel while still offering a 14 inch display. The chassis showed a small amount of flex during testing, but not enough to undermine the overall construction quality.
