ASUS has launched the new ROG Strix SCAR 18, a high end gaming laptop built around flagship hardware and a display upgrade aimed at smoother competitive gaming. The laptop features an 18 inch Mini LED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and ROG Nebula ELMB technology, which ASUS says improves motion clarity.
The display is one of the main highlights. It uses Mini LED backlighting with more than 2,000 dimming zones, up to 1,600 nits peak brightness, and HDR support. It also covers 100 percent of the DCI P3 color gamut, which should help with richer colors in games and media. G SYNC support is included to reduce screen tearing during gameplay.
Inside, the ROG Strix SCAR 18 can be configured with Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU. That places it in the premium gaming laptop category, especially for players who want strong performance at high resolution. ASUS is expected to offer lower configurations too, but the top model is clearly aimed at enthusiasts.

The laptop also supports up to 128GB DDR5 memory running at 6400 MT/s. For storage, ASUS offers up to 8TB PCIe Gen 5.0 SSD support through a 4TB plus 4TB setup. This should give enough room for large game libraries, creative projects, and heavy files.
ASUS has also made upgrades easier. The laptop includes a tool less bottom panel, so you can access internal parts more easily. The SSD slots use ROG Q Latch, which lets you replace drives without screws.

Connectivity is also modern, with dual Thunderbolt 5 ports, USB Type A ports, WiFi 7, and 2.5G LAN. The 90Wh battery should help with general use, but heavy gaming will still drain it quickly, as expected from a laptop with this level of hardware.
ASUS has not announced pricing yet. However, the top configuration with RTX 5090 graphics and the high end Mini LED display is expected to sit well above $4,000.
