Ubisoft is doing more than improving visuals for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. The remake also rebuilds core parts of how Edward moves, fights, and sneaks through the world. The goal appears to be simple: keep the pirate fantasy of the 2013 original, but make it feel smoother by modern Assassin’s Creed standards.
Ubisoft says it worked closely with early playtest feedback to improve Edward’s responsiveness. Landing animations have been refined so he recovers faster after drops, jumps should feel more responsive, and wall runs now give a quick speed boost. These changes should make parkour feel less stiff without changing the identity of the game.
The remake also adds Advanced Parkour through the newer Anvil Engine, the same engine base used for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. That should give you better control when moving across rooftops, ships, buildings, and dense city spaces.
Stealth now borrows useful ideas from Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Stealth has received a clear upgrade. Eagle Vision now includes the Observe feature from Shadows, letting you highlight enemy positions, clues, and quest objectives. That should make sneaking through restricted areas easier to read without forcing you into constant trial and error.
Edward can also crouch at any time now. That sounds small, but it changes how stealth works. Crouching affects visibility at medium and long range, helps in bushes and on rooftops, and reduces movement noise, making stealth kills easier to set up.
| Area | What changed |
|---|---|
| Movement | Faster recovery, better jumping, wall run speed boost |
| Parkour | Advanced Parkour through the newer Anvil Engine |
| Stealth | Observe feature and free crouch |
| Combat | New takedown states, Perfect Dodge attacks, Heavy Attacks |
| Returning style | Gun Kata comes back |
Combat is also being rebuilt around takedown opportunities. Enemies can enter vulnerable states, letting Edward finish them with Hidden Blade Takedowns, Perfect Parry Takedowns, Wall Takedowns, and Ground Takedowns.

The remake also adds Perfect Dodge attacks and weapon based Heavy Attacks. Enemies are said to react more actively to your actions, which should make fights less automatic than the original. Gun Kata is also returning, which matters because Edward’s sword and pistol style was one of the most memorable parts of Black Flag’s combat.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is scheduled to launch on July 9. Based on these changes, Ubisoft is treating it like a full remake rather than a visual cleanup. If the movement, stealth, and combat changes land well, Resynced could make one of the series’ most loved games feel much better to play today.
