ASRock launches a 27-inch QHD gaming monitor with a 400Hz refresh rate

ASRock has added two new monitors to its Phantom Gaming lineup, and the more interesting model is clearly the PG27QFW2A. It is a 27-inch QHD gaming monitor with a fast IPS panel and a refresh rate that can reach up to 400Hz. That makes it a strong option for players who want very smooth motion without moving to a lower-resolution 1080p esports display.

The PG27QFW2A sits in the middle of ASRock’s monitor range. It is not a basic budget screen, but it is also not being positioned as an ultra-premium OLED model. Instead, it tries to balance speed, image quality, and useful gaming features in one package.

ASRock is targeting gamers who want high refresh rates without giving up QHD sharpness and IPS color quality

The biggest selling point is the 400Hz refresh rate. A refresh rate that high is mainly useful for competitive players who want smoother motion and lower visual delay in fast games. Shooters, racing games, and other quick-reaction titles can benefit the most, as long as the PC is powerful enough to push very high frame rates.

The monitor also uses a Fast IPS panel with a 1ms gray-to-gray response time. That should help reduce blur compared with slower IPS displays. IPS panels are often preferred because they usually offer better viewing angles and color reproduction than many older TN or cheaper VA panels.

ASRock also says the PG27QFW2A covers 99% of DCI-P3 and 132% of sRGB. It also supports VESA DisplayHDR 400. This does not mean it will match a high-end HDR monitor, but it should offer better brightness and image detail than a basic SDR display.

The PG27QFW2A also supports AMD FreeSync Premium, which helps reduce screen tearing when frame rates change during gameplay. ASRock has included two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port, so users should have enough display options for modern graphics cards and consoles.

Another unusual feature is the built-in Phantom Gaming WiFi antenna. This is designed to improve wireless signal strength when connected to a compatible system. It is not a common feature on gaming monitors, but it could be useful for desk setups where the PC antenna is blocked or placed in a poor position.

The stand also looks practical. It supports height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and pivot, which gives users more control over their desk setup. The monitor also includes two USB Type-A ports, a USB Type-B port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

ASRock also introduced the PG32QFT, a larger 32-inch QHD monitor with a 180Hz refresh rate. This model looks like the cheaper option and may appeal to users who want a bigger screen more than extreme refresh rates.

ASRock has not shared pricing or availability yet. The PG27QFW2A will likely cost more than the 32-inch PG32QFT because of its faster 400Hz panel and stronger gaming focus. If ASRock prices it well, it could become an interesting choice for players who want a high-speed QHD monitor without paying for an OLED or flagship esports display.
