Xiaomi REDMI A27U Combines 4K 120Hz and 1080p 240Hz Modes for $253

Xiaomi is preparing to launch the REDMI Monitor A27U Type C 120Hz 2027 in China, combining a 4K IPS panel, dual refresh rate operation and 90W USB C charging at a relatively low price.

The 27 inch monitor runs at 3840 x 2160 resolution with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It also includes a separate performance mode that switches to 1920 x 1080 and raises the refresh rate to 240Hz.

That gives you a choice between higher image clarity for productivity and content work or a faster refresh rate for gaming.

Dual resolution modes target work and gaming

The A27U is built around a 4K IPS panel, which should make it suitable for productivity, image editing and general desktop use.

At its native resolution, the monitor supports refresh rates up to 120Hz.

Xiaomi also provides a faster mode that lowers the resolution to Full HD and doubles the refresh rate to 240Hz.

That feature could be useful if you play competitive games where higher frame rates matter more than resolution.

The approach also makes the monitor more flexible than a standard 4K productivity display locked to 60Hz.

The panel has a claimed 1500:1 native contrast ratio and 400 nit typical brightness.

It also carries DisplayHDR 400 certification.

Xiaomi claims screen reflectivity can be as low as 2.6 percent, which could improve visibility in brighter rooms.

Strong color coverage and factory calibration

Color performance is another area Xiaomi is emphasizing.

The monitor is rated for 100 percent sRGB coverage, along with 98 percent DCI P3 and 98 percent Display P3.

Each unit is also factory calibrated.

Xiaomi claims an average Delta E below 1 for both sRGB and DCI P3 modes, which suggests the monitor is being positioned for more than casual use.

There is also an M Mode designed to make colors appear closer to Apple displays.

That could be useful if you regularly work between a MacBook, iPad or other Apple hardware and an external monitor.

USB C handles display, data and charging

One of the more practical features is the USB C connection.

The port carries video, data and up to 90W of power delivery through one cable.

That means a compatible laptop can connect to the monitor and charge at the same time without needing a separate power adapter on the desk.

The monitor also includes two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 connection.

Two USB 2.0 ports are available for peripherals, along with a 3.5 mm audio jack.

This gives the A27U enough connectivity to work with desktops, laptops and gaming systems.

Pricing is aggressive for the specification

The REDMI A27U Type C 120Hz 2027 is priced at 1,699 yuan in China, which is roughly $253.

At that price, the combination of 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz Full HD mode and 90W USB C charging is notable.

Many monitors in this category usually prioritize either high resolution or gaming performance, while Xiaomi is trying to provide both.

The main limitation for buyers outside China is availability.

Xiaomi has not announced an international launch or global pricing.

If the monitor reaches other markets without a large price increase, it could become an attractive option for people who want one display for both work and gaming.
