Microsoft has sparked fresh speculation about World of Warcraft arriving on Xbox consoles after its UK social media account mistakenly included World of Warcraft: Forever in a list of upcoming Xbox releases.
The post, published on November 1, 2026, featured promotional images for World of Warcraft: Forever alongside Shrek 2: Remastered, suggesting both games would arrive on Xbox during November.
However, Microsoft quickly deleted the announcement and clarified that Blizzard's upcoming MMORPG is launching exclusively for PC and Mac through Battle.net.
Despite the correction, the incident has renewed discussions about whether Blizzard is preparing a console version of World of Warcraft.
Xbox UK Confirms the Announcement Was a Mistake
The original social media post encouraged players to prepare storage space for games arriving on Xbox in November.
World of Warcraft: Forever appeared among those releases, immediately attracting attention from fans who have been waiting for the MMORPG to receive a console version.
After removing the post, Xbox UK explained that the game would be available on PC and Mac rather than Xbox consoles.
The account also apologized for the confusion and confirmed that the original announcement contained incorrect information.
There is currently no evidence that the deleted post revealed an unannounced console release.
Microsoft has not confirmed any plans to launch World of Warcraft: Forever on Xbox Series X or Series S.
Blizzard Has Already Discussed Future Xbox Compatibility
The mistake comes shortly after World of Warcraft vice president Holly Longdale discussed the franchise's potential expansion to additional gaming platforms.
Longdale explained that Blizzard wants players to experience World of Warcraft across more devices, with controller support representing an important early step.

World of Warcraft: Forever introduces native gamepad compatibility, making the MMORPG more accessible on Windows handhelds such as the ROG Xbox Ally.
She also mentioned Microsoft's Project Helix, suggesting that future Xbox hardware could make PC and console gaming more closely connected.
However, these comments did not amount to confirmation of an Xbox port.
World of Warcraft Forever Remains a PC and Mac Release
World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to launch in early November, with the latest report listing November 4 as its release date.
The game will be distributed through Battle.net, while native controller support will allow players to use gamepads on compatible computers.
Blizzard has not announced a console release date or confirmed development of a dedicated Xbox version.
The deleted social media post therefore appears to be a promotional error rather than an official product announcement.
For now, Xbox console owners will have to wait for confirmation from Microsoft or Blizzard before expecting World of Warcraft to become available on their systems.
