Xbox Game Pass is getting another major update for the second half of August, with 10 games joining the service across cloud, console, handheld, and PC.
The biggest addition is Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, which arrives on August 27 as a day one release. The game is a prequel to the A Plague Tale series and introduces a new protagonist alongside a dual timeline story.
At the same time, several notable titles are preparing to leave the service, including The Witcher 3, Another Crab’s Treasure, and I Am Your Beast.
Xbox Game Pass August wave 2 lineup
The new batch begins with Egging On, which arrived on August 18, followed by several releases throughout the rest of the month.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is the most notable release in the lineup. Unlike the previous games in the series, it is expected to lean more heavily into action while still keeping the narrative focus that the franchise is known for.
The game also arrives directly on Game Pass at launch, meaning subscribers can play it on the same day as players who purchase it separately.
Several major games are leaving soon
The second half of August also brings a sizable list of departures.
The Witcher 3 is scheduled to leave Game Pass on August 31. The RPG remains one of the most popular games in its genre, so its removal will likely be the biggest loss in this update.
Other games leaving on August 31 include Another Crab’s Treasure, I Am Your Beast, Neon Abyss, and One Lonely Outpost.
NBA 2K26 will remain available slightly longer, with its removal scheduled for September 6.

If you are currently playing any of these games, it may be worth checking your progress before they leave the service. Once removed, continued access will generally require purchasing the game unless it returns to Game Pass later.
August ends with a strong mix of genres
This wave covers a wide range of game types rather than focusing on one category.
BlazBlue Entropy Effect X brings action focused combat, Starsand Island adds a more relaxed life simulation experience, and Blood Dungeon targets players looking for a darker action title. Young Suns and Shelldiver then carry the lineup into the end of August and the beginning of September.
That variety gives subscribers several different options depending on what they want to play during the final weeks of the month.
The September lineup has not yet been fully revealed, so another announcement is expected in the coming weeks. For now, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is the main attraction, while players interested in The Witcher 3 and the other departing games have until the end of August to finish them through Game Pass.
