Xbox Confirms Gamescom 2026 Lineup With Fable, Gears of War: E Day, and 25 Playable Games

Xbox has outlined its plans for Gamescom 2026, confirming two official broadcasts, a large public booth, and 25 games spread across 140 playable stations.

The event will take place in Cologne, Germany, during the final week of August. Xbox will use its 25th anniversary year to showcase a mix of first party releases, partner games, live demonstrations, and hands on previews.

Attendees will be able to play several major upcoming titles, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Minecraft Dungeons II, Stranger Than Heaven, Metro 2039, and part of the campaign from Gears of War: E Day.

Fable will also appear through a live gameplay demonstration focused on combat. The presentation will show how players can combine melee attacks, ranged weapons, and magic to create different fighting styles.

Xbox will hold two Gamescom broadcasts

People who cannot attend the event will be able to follow two official livestreams from the Xbox booth.

Microsoft says the broadcasts will include interviews, special guests, gameplay reveals, trailers, and further updates about upcoming games.

The two day format gives Xbox more room to cover its growing catalogue without placing every announcement into a single presentation.

The company has not provided a full schedule for individual games, so viewers may need to wait until closer to the event to learn when each title will appear.

Fable and Gears of War: E Day will receive major attention

Fable is one of the most important games in the lineup. Its live theatre presentation will give the public a direct look at combat rather than relying only on a traditional trailer.

The demonstration will focus on the flexibility of its battle system. Players will be able to move between close combat, ranged attacks, and magical abilities without being locked into one approach.

Gears of War: E Day will also have playable campaign content at the booth. This should provide a clearer idea of how the game handles combat, level design, and the earlier period of the Gears timeline.

Microsoft has been promoting both games as important parts of Xbox’s upcoming release schedule. Gamescom will give the company an opportunity to show more substantial gameplay and address questions about their current development progress.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Minecraft Dungeons II will also be playable, giving the booth a balance between established franchises and newer projects.

Xbox will feature a broad selection of partner games

The announced lineup extends beyond Microsoft’s own studios.

Games such as Alien: Isolation 2, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Star Wars Zero Company, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Crowsworn, and Turok: Origins will appear at the booth.

The initial list includes:

Game
Halo: Campaign Evolved
Forza Horizon 6
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Alien Deathstorm
Alien: Isolation 2
Bad Magpie
The Blood of Dawnwalker
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
Crowsworn
Genigods: Nezha
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Star Wars Zero Company
Terrible Lizards
Turok: Origins
Valor Mortis

Some of these games have already launched, while others remain in development. Their presence gives attendees a chance to compare recent releases with projects planned for later in 2026 and beyond.

The selection also covers several genres, including role playing games, shooters, action adventures, strategy titles, horror, and simulation.

The public booth will open for four days

Xbox will be located in Hall 7 at booth A 0.61.

The public schedule is:

DateOpening hours
Thursday, August 2710am to 8pm CEST
Friday, August 2810am to 8pm CEST
Saturday, August 299am to 8pm CEST
Sunday, August 309am to 8pm CEST

With 140 gaming stations, the booth should provide substantial hands on capacity, although the biggest games are still likely to attract long queues.

The large presence is particularly important for Xbox after a period of restructuring, studio changes, and renewed discussion about its console strategy.

Gamescom gives Microsoft an opportunity to shift attention back toward games and demonstrate how its upcoming releases support the future of the platform.

The strongest interest will likely centre on Fable, Gears of War: E Day, Alien: Isolation 2, and The Blood of Dawnwalker. The two broadcasts may also include unannounced footage or release information, although Xbox has not promised any specific surprises.

Xbox’s Gamescom 2026 plans show a broader commitment than a simple trailer presentation. The combination of playable games, live demonstrations, public broadcasts, and a large booth gives the company several ways to present its lineup during one of the year’s biggest gaming events.
