Where Winds Meet developer Everstone Studio has shared new details about the game’s Xbox launch, the upcoming Hidden Mountain expansion, and future improvements for performance, servers, matchmaking, customization, and storage size. The free to play open world wuxia RPG is now available on Xbox Series X and Series S after earlier launches on PC, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS.
The Xbox release also came with benefits for Game Pass subscribers and a tease for the game’s third major expansion, Hidden Mountain, which is planned for July. The update will focus on vertical exploration, mountain environments, new story content, and fresh gameplay systems.
The team also confirmed that version 1.8 will arrive on June 25 with a Homestead System and interactive pets, including cats and geese. A pet battle system is also planned for later.
Hidden Mountain will focus on vertical exploration and ancient philosophy
Hidden Mountain is designed to feel different from earlier Where Winds Meet regions. Instead of building the area mainly around flat exploration, Everstone Studio is using cliffs, summits, stone paths, forests, wind, and light to create a more layered region.
The studio said the expansion is built around three major visual themes: wind, light, and stone. The goal is to make the mountain region feel alive while giving players a stronger sense of height and scale.
| Update area | What players can expect |
|---|---|
| Hidden Mountain | New July expansion with cliff and summit exploration |
| Exploration | More vertical, multi layered traversal |
| Story theme | Knowledge, reason, wisdom, and truth |
| New faction | Mohist Sect details coming later |
| Enemies | New powerful foes planned |
| Version 1.8 | Homestead System and interactive pets on June 25 |
| Future pets | Pet battle system planned later |
The expansion also has a deeper theme. Everstone Studio said Hidden Mountain will explore humanity’s pursuit of wisdom and knowledge, with inspiration from ancient thinkers and the search for truth.
Xbox Series S optimization required extra work
Everstone Studio said development of the Xbox version started as part of its wider console planning. Because Where Winds Meet includes a large open world, multiplayer interactions, and real time systems, the team had to tune performance carefully for Xbox Series X and Series S.

The Xbox Series S version needed special attention because of its lower hardware ceiling. The team worked on asset streaming, scene rendering, memory management, control adaptation, and platform specific features to keep the core experience intact.
The studio said the Series S still benefits from modern console architecture, which helped the team maintain a stable and enjoyable version of the game.
More performance updates are planned for consoles
Everstone Studio said optimization will continue across consoles, including Xbox and PS5 Pro. On PS5 Pro, the studio is looking at Direct I/O based resource loading, lower memory usage peaks, better stability, and shorter loading times.
For Xbox, the team is working on shader optimization, lower memory consumption, better stability, reduced input and display latency, more consistent frame rates, and DirectStorage improvements.
These updates matter because Where Winds Meet is still growing. As new regions, systems, and features are added, the studio will need to keep refining performance across every platform.
Netcode and matchmaking are also being improved
The studio also addressed network performance, which has been one of the community’s ongoing concerns. Everstone Studio said it has added dedicated servers in Oceania, the Middle East, and South America to improve latency and stability for more players.
For PvP and co op, the team is also improving matchmaking. One recent change is cross server Arena matchmaking, which players can choose to enable. If queue times become too long on a home server, the system can expand the matchmaking pool across other servers while trying to preserve match quality.
The studio said reducing the impact of network conditions remains a long term goal.
Customization and Black Market plans are still being evaluated
Everstone Studio said it is listening to requests for more dye options, including accessories and free to play items. However, it has to consider visual quality, design intent, and the overall player experience before expanding the system.
The developer also addressed the Black Market system. Many global players want it added, but the studio said legal and compliance rules differ by region. Because of that, it is evaluating alternative systems that may better fit the global version.
That means past banner outfits and unopened cosmetic items remain a topic the studio has not fully resolved yet.
Storage size will keep growing, but optimization is planned
Where Winds Meet will continue adding regions, story content, and gameplay systems, so the total installation size is expected to grow over time. This is a major concern for mobile players, especially those using older devices with limited storage.
Everstone Studio said it will keep optimizing resource management and download solutions to reduce storage pressure where possible. However, it does not have final future file size estimates yet.
More platforms are possible but not confirmed
When asked about a Mac version and Nintendo Switch 2, Everstone Studio said it is actively evaluating more platforms. No launch window or platform confirmation was shared.
That leaves the door open for future versions, but players should wait for official announcements before expecting a release.
Where Winds Meet is being built for the long term
Everstone Studio wants Where Winds Meet to become a long lasting open world wuxia experience. The team plans to keep expanding the main story, major factions, exploration systems, social features, and multiplayer content.
Hidden Mountain is the next major step in that plan. Its vertical design, new faction, philosophical theme, and upcoming mechanics could help the game feel broader than a standard live service map update.
The bigger challenge will be balance. The team must keep adding content while improving performance, reducing storage pressure, fixing network pain points, and making monetization systems work fairly across regions.
For now, Where Winds Meet appears to be moving in a steady direction. Xbox players have finally joined the wider community, Hidden Mountain is coming in July, and the studio is openly discussing many of the issues that players want fixed next.
