The latest Grand Theft Auto VI leak has raised new concerns after footage appeared to show that the people behind the leak may have access to an actual playable build of the game rather than a collection of prerecorded videos.
New GTA 6 gameplay footage surfaced on August 20, marking the third consecutive day of unauthorized material appearing online. Earlier leaks had already shown sections of the game and information connected to the Leonida map, but the newest footage provides stronger evidence that the leaked material may be coming from a functioning version of GTA 6.
Take Two has been attempting to remove unauthorized clips as they appear, although new footage has continued to surface.
New footage suggests direct control of GTA 6
Much of the latest video reportedly shows GTA 6's male protagonist flying a small aircraft above the city. The footage also provides a brief look at the game's radio selection interface.
The more significant moment appears near the end of the recording. The person controlling the game fires bullets into a wall to create the word "LEEK."
That detail matters because it would be difficult to reproduce using only previously recorded gameplay footage. It suggests that whoever captured the video had direct control of the character at the time.
If authentic, this would mean the people responsible for the recent GTA 6 leaks have obtained access to a playable development build with at least some freedom to explore the game world.
| GTA 6 leak detail | Current information |
|---|---|
| Latest footage appeared | August 20, 2026 |
| Consecutive days of leaks | Three |
| Gameplay shown | Flying a small plane, radio interface and free movement |
| Main concern | Possible access to a playable GTA 6 build |
| Age of build | Not confirmed |
| GTA 6 release date | November 19, 2026 |
The exact age of the build remains uncertain. Some members of the GTA community have attempted to estimate its age using music heard through the in game radio system, with suggestions that the build could be less than a year old. That estimate has not been officially confirmed.
Story spoilers could become a bigger concern
Access to a playable build creates a different problem from isolated video leaks. Depending on how complete the build is, someone with direct access could potentially explore missions, locations, characters, dialogue, and other unrevealed content.
That raises the possibility of significant story spoilers appearing online before launch. GTA 6 is still scheduled for November 19, leaving roughly three months between the current leaks and the planned release.

There is no confirmation that the leaked build contains the complete campaign or the final version of the game's story. Development builds can contain unfinished missions, missing assets, temporary dialogue, debugging tools, and content that may be changed before release.
The group responsible for distributing the footage has claimed that its actions are intended as a protest against practices such as locking single player content behind more expensive editions and moving toward digital only releases. It has also promoted cryptocurrency alongside the leaks, which complicates those stated motivations.
Rockstar still has an official GTA 6 presentation planned
Players who prefer to avoid leaked material will not have to wait much longer for official gameplay information.
Rockstar is preparing a major GTA 6 presentation later in August in partnership with Netflix. The presentation is expected to provide a much more detailed look at the game, with Netflix receiving a six hour period of exclusivity before the footage becomes more widely available.
Until then, avoiding spoilers may become increasingly difficult if the person or group behind the current leaks truly has access to a playable GTA 6 build. The latest footage suggests the situation may now extend beyond a limited collection of stolen videos, although the authenticity and completeness of the build remain unconfirmed.
