Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has added the Skitarii Alpha Primus as its seventh playable class, bringing Adeptus Mechanicus fighters into the game for the first time. The new class is available now as paid DLC and introduces cybernetic customization, electric weapon mechanics, Servo Skull companions, and one of Darktide’s most flexible talent trees.
The Skitarii Alpha Primus joins the Veteran, Ogryn, Zealot, Psyker, Arbites, and Hive Scum classes. Fatshark says the class had been in development for years and was planned before the Hive Scum update.
The Skitarii was chosen instead of a full Tech Priest because it fits Darktide’s strike team style more naturally. Tech Priests are usually not sent into frontline missions, while Skitarii soldiers are built for combat and can work alongside other rejects in the hive city of Tertium.
Skitarii Uses Cybernetic Customization and Voice Effects
The Skitarii class has a separate body type because of its mechanical limbs and heavily modified appearance. Character creation begins inside an Adeptus Mechanicus facility where players build their fighter with bionic eyes, cybernetic arms and legs, metal textures, oxidation settings, height options, background choices, and Forge World origins.
The class also has a unique voice modulation system. Players can change pitch, delay, and distortion to create robotic or distorted voice effects during character creation.
| Customization Feature | What It Changes |
|---|---|
| Bionic eyes | Lens colors visible through helmets |
| Cybernetic limbs | Arm and leg models, metal textures, oxidation |
| Forge World origin | Starting cosmetic style |
| Height | Taller body option than standard human classes |
| Voice modulation | Pitch, delay, and distortion effects |
| Personalities | Four available personality choices |
Arc Damage Lets Electricity Chain Between Enemies
The Skitarii introduces an Arc mechanic that spreads electricity across enemy groups. When an Arc attack hits an enemy already affected by electricity, the damage can jump to nearby enemies and continue through a crowd.

This makes the class especially strong against clustered enemies. It can also work with other classes, since Psykers and other allies can Electrify targets before the Skitarii triggers chain damage.
The class does not use a normal ability cooldown. Instead, it builds Capacitance Charges through kills and certain talent effects. More charges make abilities stronger, giving players a reason to balance aggressive combat with careful timing.
Servo Skulls Add Damage, Support and Utility
The default Blitz ability is an Artificer Servo Skull, a floating companion that attacks enemies and can complete Data Interrogation tasks automatically.
Players can unlock two more Servo Skull types through the talent tree:
- Flamethrower Servo Skull for crowd control and fire damage
- Medicae Servo Skull for team healing and support
Both can be used together in the same build, giving the Skitarii more flexibility than many existing Darktide classes.
New Weapons Focus on Electric Attacks and Precision Damage
The Skitarii launches with several exclusive weapons, including the Arc Maul, Paired Transonic Blades, Mechanicus Power Sword, Galvanic Rifle, Arc Rifle, and Phosphor Blast Pistol.
| Weapon | Main Role |
|---|---|
| Arc Maul | Electric melee crowd control |
| Transonic Blades | Dual wield melee with two combat stances |
| Mechanicus Power Sword | Charge based melee damage |
| Galvanic Rifle | Precision weapon with armor penetration |
| Arc Rifle | Long range lightning chains |
| Phosphor Blast Pistol | High damage pistol that weakens enemies |
The Skitarii DLC costs $11.99, while a Deluxe Edition costs $18.99 and includes cosmetic items, weapon skins, a Servo Skull skin, and a portrait frame.
Fatshark has also released a free update with a new Expeditions scavenging zone, new enemy types, environmental hazards, balance changes, quality of life updates, and the Heretical Artifacts live event.
