Blizzard has released a new expansion for Warcraft 3: Reforged, giving the strategy game its first major new storyline in more than two decades.
Called Forsaken Kingdom, the expansion focuses on the final days of Lordaeron before the rise of the Undercity. It follows the Forsaken as they break free from the Scourge, establish a new home and move toward the events that will eventually connect with World of Warcraft.
The expansion was announced during BlizzCon 2026 and released immediately on PC.

Forsaken Kingdom continues the Warcraft 3 storyline
The new campaign takes place during an important period in Warcraft history.
Lordaeron has fallen, the Scourge remains a major threat, and the newly risen Forsaken are fighting to secure their future. Sylvanas Windrunner plays a central role as the group tries to establish itself beneath the ruins of its former kingdom.
Blizzard says the story will include both familiar characters and new faces.
The campaign consists of a prologue followed by three chapters, with more than 30 hours of content planned across the full expansion.
That makes Forsaken Kingdom the first substantial new Warcraft 3 storyline since The Frozen Throne, which arrived 23 years ago.
The story connects directly to World of Warcraft Forever
Forsaken Kingdom also has a wider role in Blizzard's current Warcraft plans.
The expansion leads into World of Warcraft: Forever, the newly announced Classic Plus style experience. Blizzard says decisions and events from Forsaken Kingdom will help establish the world that players later encounter in Forever.
This gives the expansion more importance than a standalone side story.
It also helps connect the RTS era of Warcraft with the version of Azeroth Blizzard is building for its new permanent World of Warcraft branch.
Warcraft 3 Reforged also receives a free 3.0 update
Players who do not buy the expansion still have a reason to return.
Blizzard has released Warcraft 3 Reforged update 3.0 alongside Forsaken Kingdom.
The free update introduces a new graphics mode, additional control options, improvements to the world editor and a range of bug fixes.

Warcraft 3: Reforged has received several major updates since its difficult 2020 launch.
The 2.0 update released in 2024 restored and improved several features that players had requested, while also updating the interface and other parts of the game.
Version 3.0 continues that work while the new expansion adds fresh story content on top.
Forsaken Kingdom costs $29.99
Players who already own Warcraft 3: Reforged can buy Forsaken Kingdom for $29.99.
A $49.99 bundle is also available for new players who want both the base game and the expansion.
The immediate release makes the announcement unusual by modern standards, since players did not have to wait after the BlizzCon reveal.
For Warcraft RTS fans, Forsaken Kingdom represents a significant return to a part of the series that has received little completely new story content since the early 2000s.
