Three more games have been removed from the Xbox Store in recent weeks, adding to a growing list of titles that are no longer available for new purchases. Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier, Signs of the Sojourner, and Boom Boom Rocket have all disappeared without major advance notice, although players who already own them should still be able to access their purchases.
Game delistings are common in the digital era, often caused by expired licences, publishing disputes, music rights, server costs, or older distribution agreements. However, the lack of warning can be frustrating for anyone who planned to buy a game later or was waiting for a discount.
The latest removals come after Horizon Chase Turbo, Rec Room, and the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Warzone were also taken down from the Xbox Store earlier in June.
Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier Is No Longer Available on Xbox
Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier is one of the more notable titles in the latest group. Released in 2018, it was a narrative adventure set in the wider Planet of the Apes universe.
The game focused on choices, conflict, and survival between human groups and ape communities. It was not a major blockbuster release, but it offered a different kind of licensed game for fans of the franchise.
Its Xbox Store listing still appears to exist in some regions, but the game can no longer be purchased. The situation is especially disappointing because there is no physical Xbox version available as an alternative.
The game had already disappeared from other platforms earlier this year, but Xbox availability appears to have lasted longer in some regions than others.
| Delisted game | Original release year | Game type | Current Xbox status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier | 2018 | Narrative adventure | No longer available to buy |
| Signs of the Sojourner | 2020 | Narrative card game | Removed from the Xbox Store |
| Boom Boom Rocket | 2007 | Rhythm and arcade game | No longer available digitally |
Signs of the Sojourner May Return in the Future
Signs of the Sojourner is another quiet removal. The 2020 game used cards to represent communication and relationships, asking players to build conversations through the choices they make.

Unlike many card games, its focus was not on competitive battles. It used cards to shape character interactions, personal growth, and the player’s journey through a colourful world.
The game’s removal appears to be connected to a publisher dispute. A member of the development team has suggested that there is hope for it to return, but no timetable has been confirmed.
That gives the game a slightly different situation from titles removed because of permanent licensing problems. It may become available again, but people should not assume that will happen until an official announcement is made.
Boom Boom Rocket Removes Another Xbox Live Arcade Classic
Boom Boom Rocket is the oldest game in this latest set of removals. Originally released for Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade, it combined rhythm gameplay with fireworks displays over a stylised city skyline.
Players timed explosions to music, with several modes and local multiplayer options. It was a small but memorable part of the Xbox 360 digital library, particularly for players who enjoyed arcade games from that era.
Its removal is another reminder that older digital games can disappear with little warning. Backward compatibility helps preserve access for people who already bought these titles, but it does not solve the problem for new players who discover them after they are gone.
Xbox store delistings continue to show why digital preservation matters. Players who are interested in older games may want to keep an eye on store listings, because a title can be removed before there is time for a final sale or a formal announcement.
