Microsoft has not yet confirmed which games will leave Xbox Game Pass in September 2026, but several titles could be at risk based on when they originally joined the service.
The predictions are based mainly on a common Game Pass pattern where third party titles remain available for around one year. Some games stay for longer, while others leave sooner, so none of the titles below should be treated as confirmed departures.
Microsoft usually announces removals roughly two weeks before they happen. Publishers can also reach late agreements that keep games in the service even after a departure has been announced.
Potential Xbox Game Pass departures for September 2026
Several games added during September 2025 are approaching their first anniversary on the service. A smaller group from September 2024 has now been available for close to two years.
| Game | Joined Xbox Game Pass | Platforms |
|---|---|---|
| Star Trucker | September 3, 2024 | Console, PC, Cloud |
| Legend of Mana | September 26, 2024 | Console, PC, Cloud |
| Trials of Mana | September 26, 2024 | Console, PC, Cloud |
| I Am Your Beast | September 2, 2025 | Xbox Series X and Series S, PC, Cloud |
| Hollow Knight: Silksong | September 4, 2025 | Console, PC, Cloud |
| RoadCraft | September 16, 2025 | Xbox Series X and Series S, Cloud |
| Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor | September 17, 2025 | Console, PC, Cloud |
| Frostpunk 2 | September 18, 2025 | Xbox Series X and Series S |
| Wobbly Life | September 18, 2025 | Xbox Series X and Series S, PC, Cloud |
| Hades | September 19, 2025 | Console, PC, Cloud |
| Sworn | September 23, 2025 | Xbox Series X and Series S, PC, Cloud |
| Visions of Mana | September 25, 2025 | Xbox Series X and Series S, PC, Cloud |
| Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light | September 30, 2025 | Console, PC, Cloud |
This is only an early watch list. The final September removal list could include some of these games, none of them, or additional titles not shown here.
One year remains the most useful pattern to watch
Third party Game Pass agreements often appear to last around 12 months, making anniversary dates useful when estimating possible departures.
That is why titles such as I Am Your Beast, RoadCraft, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Frostpunk 2, Wobbly Life, Hades, Sworn, Visions of Mana, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light stand out.

The pattern is not a fixed rule.
Microsoft and publishers negotiate individual agreements, and some games stay for two years or longer. Others can leave before reaching their first anniversary.
The presence of Star Trucker, Legend of Mana, and Trials of Mana on the prediction list shows that two year stays also happen.
Hollow Knight: Silksong appears less likely to leave
Hollow Knight: Silksong joined Game Pass on September 4, 2025, placing it inside the one year window that normally makes a game worth watching.
However, it may be less likely to leave than some of the other titles.
There has been no official announcement indicating that Silksong will be removed in September, and its inclusion here is based only on its original Game Pass date.
That distinction is important because prediction lists can easily create the impression that a departure is already scheduled when it is not.
Until Microsoft adds the game to the official Leaving Soon section, there is no confirmed reason for subscribers to expect it to disappear.
Several major games could be affected
If even part of the prediction list proves accurate, September could include some notable departures.
Hades remains one of the best known games in the group, while Frostpunk 2, RoadCraft, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, and Visions of Mana represent larger releases that may require substantial time to finish.
| Game | General type |
|---|---|
| Hades | Action roguelike |
| Frostpunk 2 | Survival city builder |
| RoadCraft | Heavy vehicle simulation |
| Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor | Survivor style action game |
| Visions of Mana | Action RPG |
| I Am Your Beast | Fast paced first person action |
| Wobbly Life | Open world sandbox |
| Sworn | Action roguelike |
If you are already playing one of these games through Game Pass, it may be worth prioritising it before September rather than waiting for an official removal notice.
That is especially true for longer titles where two weeks may not provide enough time.
Older Mana games could also be approaching the end of their stay
Legend of Mana and Trials of Mana both joined Game Pass on September 26, 2024.
By September 2026, both will have spent around two years in the service.
A two year anniversary does not guarantee removal, but it makes both games reasonable candidates to watch because licensing agreements can be renewed in fixed periods.
Star Trucker is in a similar position after joining on September 3, 2024.
These older additions may ultimately prove more likely to leave than some of the newer 2025 games if Microsoft has already renewed their original agreements once.
Official announcements will still matter more than predictions
Microsoft normally provides around two weeks of notice before removing games from Game Pass.
That means the first confirmed September departures are likely to appear closer to the end of August or the beginning of September.
Even then, the list can change.
Publishers sometimes reach late agreements with Microsoft that allow games to stay despite an earlier removal notice.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Prediction | Based only on previous Game Pass timing |
| Leaving Soon listing | Officially scheduled to leave |
| Late renewal | Game may remain despite earlier notice |
| No announcement | Game remains available for now |
For that reason, subscribers should not buy a game purely because it appears on an unofficial prediction list.
The safer approach is to watch the official Game Pass Leaving Soon section and decide once Microsoft confirms the dates.
September should also bring more new Game Pass releases
Possible departures are only one side of the monthly Game Pass rotation.
Microsoft is continuing to add new games over the coming weeks, including Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and other previously announced releases.
That means September will likely bring another mix of additions and removals rather than simply shrinking the catalog.
For now, the 13 games above are worth keeping an eye on, but none are confirmed to leave Xbox Game Pass in September 2026. The official list should provide the final answer once Microsoft updates the service closer to the start of the month.
