The Duskbloods September 24 Release Date Claim Was an Error as New Gameplay Details Emerge

The Duskbloods briefly appeared to have a September 24, 2026 release date after an early preview listed that date, but the claim has since been corrected as an editorial mistake.

That means FromSoftware's Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive still does not have a confirmed launch date.

The temporary listing attracted attention because September 24 is already crowded with major releases including Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall. However, players should not treat that date as official for The Duskbloods.

September 24 is not a confirmed release date

The original preview stated that The Duskbloods would be available from September 24.

That immediately raised the possibility of FromSoftware launching its new multiplayer game against several major releases on the same day.

The date was later clarified as an error, removing the strongest evidence for a September launch.

Dusk Battles are built around eight players and four phases

The latest hands on previews provide much more detail about how matches work.

Matches are called Dusk Battles and feature eight players competing through four timed phases.

The overall goal is to collect Virtue, a resource that determines player progress during the match.

Virtue can be earned by defeating regular enemies, killing bosses, exploring the environment, and reaching limited pickups called Flame Virtue before rival players.

The structure mixes PvP competition with PvE progression, meaning players must decide whether to fight other players directly or spend time gathering resources elsewhere.

Sigils give individual characters different objectives

Each playable Bloodsworn can also receive optional objectives called Sigils.

Completing these tasks provides additional ways to earn Virtue.

Some appear deliberately unusual.

One example is the Sigil of Love, which asks a player to propose marriage to a designated rival.

These character specific objectives could make matches less predictable because players may be pursuing goals that are not immediately obvious to everyone else.

Alliances and Duos add more social options

Players can temporarily form Alliances during a match.

That introduces another layer of strategy because an alliance can help both players survive or defeat stronger enemies, while still leaving room for competition later.

There is also a dedicated Duos Mode for players who prefer to enter with a partner.

Private lobbies have been confirmed as well, allowing groups of friends to organize matches without relying entirely on public matchmaking.

AI companions can join battles

The Duskbloods also includes summonable AI companions known as Kin.

Players can access them through portals placed around the map.

Kin fight alongside their summoner and can level up during a match.

The system has some similarities to Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring, although it is being adapted for a multiplayer environment.

That could create interesting situations where players are managing both human opponents and AI supported encounters at the same time.

More than 10 Bloodsworn are planned

The final game is expected to include more than 10 playable Bloodsworn characters.

Six were available in the recent preview build.

Albert uses dual sabers and an SMG, giving him a mix of close and ranged combat.

Zork is a slower tank style character focused on durability and heavy attacks.

Senator Samir Patres stands out because he can transform into a dinosaur like creature.

These abilities reinforce the idea that The Duskbloods is moving far beyond the more grounded character structures seen in many previous FromSoftware games.

Three maps are planned for the full game

The preview build included Lowarno City, one of three maps planned for launch.

The location includes a cathedral, cave systems, poisonous marshes, and strong vertical design.

That verticality should work alongside the game's mobility systems, including aerial movement and fast traversal shown in previous footage.

Story content will also be delivered outside matches.

Players can learn more through an NPC in the House of Night hub and through a Bloodlines customization system that reveals character histories and relationships as each Bloodsworn is used more often.

The Duskbloods still lacks an official release date, but the latest previews make its structure much clearer.

The September 24 claim should now be ignored, while the confirmed information points to a dense PvPvE game built around eight player matches, character specific objectives, temporary alliances, AI companions, and multiple progression paths.
