007 First Light Reaches 4 Million Sales in Three Months as Year One Support Expands

007 First Light has surpassed 4 million copies sold within its first three months, making the James Bond action adventure one of the faster selling premium games released in 2026.

The milestone comes before the game's planned Nintendo Switch 2 launch later this year, giving it another opportunity to expand its audience.

The strong sales also arrive as IO Interactive prepares a substantial Year One content plan with new Tactical Simulation updates, weapons, gadgets, challenges, cosmetics, and a delayed PC path tracing update.

Sales momentum remains strong

007 First Light has continued to build on its launch performance, reaching 4 million units sold after three months.

That gives the game one of the stronger commercial starts among premium releases this year.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version has not launched yet, so total sales could continue rising once the game reaches another platform.

Year One content will expand Tactical Simulations

IO Interactive is planning regular updates throughout the game's first year.

Much of that support will focus on Tactical Simulation content, adding new challenges and scenarios to existing locations.

These include areas such as Kensington's Workshop, the mountains of Slovakia, the black market in Mauritania, and the Pearl resort in Vietnam.

Players will also uncover more information about Webb Industries and investigate a mysterious piece of technology tied to the wider story.

Another planned mission will involve Pirate King Bawma, following events in Mauritania.

New gadgets, weapons and challenges are coming

The Year One roadmap goes beyond additional missions.

Regular updates are expected to introduce gadget improvements, new weapons, leaderboard challenges, cosmetics, and more gameplay scenarios.

New Game Plus is also being considered, although it has not been confirmed.

That feature could give players another reason to replay the campaign with previously unlocked equipment or abilities if it is eventually added.

The continued support suggests IO Interactive intends to keep the game active beyond its initial story campaign rather than treating it as a one time release.

PC path tracing update is still planned

The delayed path tracing update for PC remains in development.

It is being created in partnership with NVIDIA and is expected to improve lighting, reflections, and other visual effects on supported hardware.

The feature did not arrive at launch, and no new release date has been provided.

For players with powerful graphics cards, it could become one of the more significant visual upgrades added during Year One.

A sequel now looks increasingly likely

The commercial performance also strengthens the case for another James Bond game.

There had previously been uncertainty over whether IO Interactive would return for a sequel, but more recent comments have pointed toward the studio remaining involved.

With 4 million copies sold in only three months, continuing the partnership would now appear easier to justify commercially.

The success is especially important because 007 First Light was built as an original Bond story rather than a direct adaptation of an existing film.

That gives IO Interactive more freedom to develop its own version of the character and potentially build a longer running series around it.

For now, the focus remains on expanding the first game.

With a Switch 2 version still coming, regular Year One updates planned, and PC path tracing on the way, 007 First Light still has several opportunities to grow beyond its current 4 million sales milestone.
