The Blood of Dawnwalker will include a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on Xbox Series X when it launches, following strong feedback from players about the game's previously announced console frame rate options. The new mode will arrive through the day one launch patch.
The upcoming action RPG had previously been shown with 30 FPS and 40 FPS modes on Xbox Series X and PS5. That led to criticism from players who wanted a 60 FPS option, especially on current generation hardware.
Developer Rebel Wolves says a higher frame rate mode was already being tested, but the team was not ready to commit to it publicly. After seeing the response from players, the studio prioritized another round of testing and decided it had enough confidence to confirm the mode for launch.
| Platform | Confirmed frame rate options |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series X | 30 FPS, 40 FPS and Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS |
| PS5 | 30 FPS, 40 FPS and Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS |
| PS5 Pro | Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS confirmed |
| Xbox Series S | 30 FPS only |
Performance Mode will arrive through the launch patch
The important detail is that Rebel Wolves is describing the new mode as targeting 60 FPS rather than promising a locked 60 FPS experience.
That distinction means actual performance will still need to be tested once the final console version becomes available. Resolution, graphical settings and how consistently the game holds its target have not yet been detailed.

The developer explained that it had originally shared only the console modes it could confidently guarantee at launch. The 60 FPS option was already under development at the time but had not completed enough testing for a public commitment.
Player feedback appears to have accelerated that process. Rebel Wolves says the response made it clear that a 60 FPS option was important to a significant part of the audience, prompting the team to focus on completing the necessary tests.
Xbox Series S remains limited to 30 FPS
Xbox Series S will not receive the same Performance Mode. The smaller console is currently confirmed to run The Blood of Dawnwalker at 30 FPS, with no alternative frame rate mode announced.
That creates a clear difference between Microsoft's two current Xbox consoles. Series X players will have three performance choices, while Series S owners will be limited to the standard 30 FPS presentation.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is scheduled to launch in early September 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PS5. The Xbox Store price is listed at $69.99 in the supplied information.
For players who were waiting for confirmation of a 60 FPS option before buying, the day one Performance Mode removes one of the biggest concerns surrounding the console release. The remaining question is how close the final game can stay to its 60 FPS target during demanding combat and open world sections.
