The 10 Most Popular Xbox Demo Fest Games So Far

Xbox Demo Fest 2026 has been running since June 4, and players are already showing clear interest in a wide mix of upcoming games. More than 40 demos are available during the event, but several titles have moved ahead as the most popular downloads on the Xbox Store.

The current list includes shooters, co-op games, roguelikes, simulators, puzzle platformers, and retro-inspired adventures. That variety is one of the strongest parts of Xbox Demo Fest, as players can try games that may otherwise receive less attention before launch.

Onimusha currently appears above the list in the Xbox Store demo section, but it is not part of the Demo Fest lineup. The following ten games are the most popular demos from the event itself.

Active Matter leads the Xbox Demo Fest rankings

Active Matter has become the most popular Xbox Demo Fest game so far. The upcoming shooter places players in unstable quantum zones where dangerous anomalies and rival operatives create constant pressure.

The game centres on active matter, a rare and valuable resource that players must collect while trying to survive an unpredictable environment. Its mix of shooting, extraction mechanics, time loops, and strange physics appears to be attracting plenty of interest from Xbox players.

The demo is available for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Strategy and simulation games are also performing well

Order Automatica takes the second position, showing that Xbox owners are also interested in smaller strategy games during the event. It is a dark roguelike auto battler played on a three by three grid, where players position units, combine cursed relics, and try to create powerful combinations before time runs out.

Wrap House Simulator follows in third place. The game lets players manage a food shop, prepare ingredients, serve customers, and run the business with friends. It supports Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC.

The popularity of these games suggests players are not only looking for big action releases. Management and strategy games continue to find an audience on Xbox, especially when they offer accessible co-op or replayable systems.

Co-op and puzzle games have found a strong audience

Carry The Glass is currently one of the most popular co-op demos in the event. The game puts two players in control of construction workers who must carry a fragile glass window through obstacle-filled levels.

The concept is simple, but success depends on communication and careful movement. One mistake can break the glass and force players to try again.

Dodo Duckie is another standout. It is a colourful puzzle platformer where players can switch between 2D and 3D environments to reveal hidden paths and solve challenges. Its unusual mechanics and lighter tone help it stand apart from the darker games in the demo list.

Horror, action, and retro style games complete the top ten

Salvation: Echoes of War sits at number six. It is a third-person adventure about a war pilot trapped in a nightmare shaped by trauma and historical conflicts. The game uses stealth, puzzle-solving, and non-aggressive combat instead of relying entirely on direct action.

Akatori follows with a classic action platforming approach. The Metroidvania game follows Mako, a girl raised at the Firebird Temple, as she travels through different worlds threatened by the Amber Storms.

Charlatan adds a more unusual roguelike idea. Players use a slot machine where every spin is a turn, but surviving often means cheating, manipulating the reels, and managing risk inside a cursed amusement park.

Moonbrella offers another distinctive platforming concept. Its protagonist does not have a normal jump button, so players must rely on an upgradeable umbrella to explore an abandoned planet and reach the moon.

Faeland completes the top ten with a fantasy role-playing adventure that combines pixel art visuals, character customisation, quests, weapons, and a story about survival.

Xbox Demo Fest ends on June 30

All of the featured demos are expected to remain available until at least June 30, when Xbox Demo Fest 2026 is scheduled to end. A few new demos have also been added since the event began, including Echoes of Aincrad and Freestyle Football 2.

The event gives Xbox players a useful chance to test a broad range of upcoming games before spending money on them. With more than 40 demos available, the top ten list only shows part of what is currently on offer.
