Unreleased Grand Theft Auto VI material has begun circulating again, and the federal court record shows no new move from Take-Two Interactive in response. The publisher's last filings over the leaks date from August 2026, when it went to a judge four separate times for help identifying who is behind them.

Take-Two filed four applications for Digital Millennium Copyright Act subpoenas in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 20 and 21, 2026. They named Microsoft, Discord, Google and X Corp.
Two were granted. Judge Analisa Torres signed an order on August 24 directing the clerk to issue a subpoena to X Corp. Judge Andrew L. Carter, Jr. did the same for Discord on August 31.
What Take-Two put in front of the court
Each application rests on a takedown notice Take-Two had already sent. One of them, dated August 19, 2026, was filed as an exhibit, which is why its wording is public.
In it, the company's in-house legal department calls the material "leaked content" and "the stolen content from our copyright". It identifies the work as "GRAND THEFT AUTO VI, which is a proprietary software owned by Take-Two Interactive, including but not limited to copyrighted audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements".
Digital Citizen is not describing what the material shows. It is not naming where it has been hosted, and it is not linking to it.
A second exhibit captures a platform acting on one of those notices. YouTube replied to a complaint sent from a rockstargames.com address on August 21, 2026 with a single line: "Request resolved. The content listed below has been removed."

The demands reached well past one account
Attachment A to the Microsoft subpoena asks for "all internal Microsoft business records and investigative records" tied to that company's own investigation of a named online persona. Then it widens considerably.
Take-Two asked for identifying details on every account that was a member of, or communicating with, a set of Discord servers between June 1, 2026 and the filing date. For each one, the list runs to account ID, registration email, registration and last-login IP addresses, phone number, linked Google and Xbox connections, and device identifiers.
Compliance was set for September 4, 2026. No docket entry records what any platform handed over, and Take-Two filed a letter motion to seal in the Discord case on August 28. The scale of that effort was clear from the start.
The Google application went differently. Judge John P. Cronan asked Take-Two to supplement it, and after the company filed a response, he closed the case on August 31. No order granting that subpoena appears, and the docket gives no reason.
Take-Two still discloses the 2022 intrusion to investors
The company's annual report, filed with the SEC on May 22, 2026, says that in September 2022 Rockstar "experienced a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information". That included "early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto".
The same filing warns that a breach of the systems holding its source code "could lead to damage to or piracy of our software". It adds that attacks aimed at "compromising our intellectual property and other commercially sensitive information" "may remain undetected for prolonged periods of time".
Take-Two told investors the costs of the 2022 incidents were immaterial.
What Rockstar has actually confirmed
Rockstar's own game page still lists November 19, 2026 as the release date, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two's annual report repeats it: the game "is planned for release on November 19, 2026".
No PC date has been published, and Rockstar's past release patterns suggest a long wait. The physical spending has started regardless, with a $399.99 collector's box that does not include the game.
Rockstar published its official showcase on August 27, 2026, and states on that page that it was "captured entirely from in-game footage on the PlayStation 5". That line reads differently now than it did then.
Take-Two's investor press releases say nothing about any of this. Its most recent quarterly results were published on August 7, 2026, before the leaks began, so the next earnings report is the first scheduled moment the company has to address them. Until then, the newest thing on any docket is still dated August 21.
