Each time I buy a new smartphone and install Facebook on it, I immediately want to turn off the sounds that the app makes. I do not like hearing sounds each time I like someone’s picture on Facebook, or when I leave a comment, etc. If you do not like Facebook’s in-app sounds, read this tutorial to disable them. Our guide is both for iPhone, and Android users:
NOTE: First, we start with Facebook on Android. If you use an iPhone, scroll down to the second section of this tutorial.
How to stop Facebook app sounds on Android smartphones
Open the Facebook app on your Android smartphone and tap the Menu button on the top-right corner, which looks like three parallel lines.
A long list of options is shown. Scroll down until you find Settings & Privacy and tap on this entry.
The menu extends with several entries. Tap Settings.
In the list of Facebook settings, scroll down to Media and Contacts and tap on this entry.
Now you find several switches that can be turned on and off. Tap the switch for “Sounds in the App” to turn off the Facebook sounds.
You can now use the Facebook app on your Android smartphone and no longer hear sounds when you like something on your friends’ walls or when you interact with the app.
How to stop Facebook app sounds on your iPhone
On your iPhone, open the Facebook app and tap on the Menu button on the bottom-right corner. This button looks like three parallel lines.
Scroll down the list of available options until you find Settings & Privacy. Tap on this entry to expand it.
Tap the Settings entry in the list that opens.
Scroll down the available Facebook settings, to the Media and Contacts section. There, tap the Sounds entry.
Turn the In-App Sound switch off.
You can now resume using the Facebook app on your iPhone, without any annoying sounds.
How much do you dislike the in-app Facebook sounds?
The sounds of the Facebook app make you feel that you are playing a mobile game, not using an app for keeping in touch with people. Every time we install the app on any smartphone, we want to turn off the sounds after just a few seconds of use. Before closing this tutorial, tell us how much you dislike these in-app sounds, and why.
