SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5P Drops to $121.99 at Amazon, and 60 Hours Is the Bluetooth Figure

The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5P wireless headset is $121.99 at Amazon, down from a $149.99 list price. Both that listing and SteelSeries lead on a 60-hour battery, but SteelSeries rates that figure for Bluetooth and gives the 2.4GHz gaming connection up to 50 hours.

The 5P is the PlayStation variant of the Arctis Nova 5, built around 40mm neodymium drivers and a compact USB-C dongle. SteelSeries lists it for PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Mac, Chromebook, mobile and VR, and not for Xbox.

The dongle is what carries game audio, so the advertised battery figure is not the one gaming sessions run on.

Where the 60-hour battery figure applies

SteelSeries publishes one battery row for this headset on its Arctis Nova 5 product page. It reads: up to 50 hours 2.4GHz Wireless or 60 hours in Bluetooth.

The company files that row under a heading called Simultaneous Wireless. Its own FAQ is narrower.

SteelSeries says the headset can hold a 2.4GHz and a Bluetooth connection at the same time, but that it only allows one audio stream at a time. A Quick-Switch button on the ear cup moves between them.

Bluetooth 5.3 is the mode SteelSeries describes for calls and on-the-go media. Answering a call switches the headset off game audio, then back again once the call ends.

What SteelSeries charges, and what it charged this month

SteelSeries sells the same black 5P for $126.99 on its own store, so Amazon is $5.00 under the maker. The $149.99 anchor is also real. SteelSeries charged it from August 24 to September 20, again from September 28 to October 5, and again from October 12 to October 15.

SteelSeries publishes its own 30-day price history for this SKU, and it undercuts the idea that $121.99 is a floor. The company charged $119.99 for the 5P from October 6 to October 11. Its own lowest-price-in-a-month field reads $119.99.

The current SteelSeries price opened on October 20 under a campaign labelled US Price Matching 1. No end date is published for it, and none is published for the Amazon price either.

These windows do close. Digital Citizen priced the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni at $359.99 on October 18, and that Midnight Blue listing is back to $399.99 today.

The features that need a phone or Sonar

The 100-plus game audio presets that lead both listings run through the Arctis Companion App. SteelSeries lists that app for iPhone on iOS 15.6 and for Android 9, and for no desktop platform.

Presets can be set separately for 2.4GHz and for Bluetooth, according to the company's FAQ. The same app supports only this headset and the SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds.

AI noise cancelling on PC is a separate requirement. SteelSeries lists GG and the Sonar suite on Windows 10 or newer for that, while GG and Engine cover Windows 8.1 and macOS 10.13.

How the 5P compares in the Arctis Nova line

Prices for the alternatives below were taken from the same Amazon data, checked at the same time.

HeadsetPrice at AmazonList price
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5P$121.99$149.99
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2$184.99$199.99
SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni$399.99Not listed
Logitech G522 Lightspeed$129.97$159.99

The Logitech G522 is listed by a marketplace seller rather than by Amazon, which changes who handles a return. The other three ship from Amazon directly.

Xbox sits outside what SteelSeries lists for the 5P. The RIG 800 PRO HX covers that platform instead, and the Corsair VOID Wireless v2 is a cheaper wireless option.

SteelSeries does not publish a full charge time for the 5P, only the 15-minute fast-charge figure. It names no Bluetooth codec, and it lists only 2.4GHz and Bluetooth under connectivity, with no analog cable in the box. Neither company has published an end date for the current price, and both have moved this headset several times in the past month.
