Samson: A Tyndalston Story is preparing for its Xbox Series X and S release on September 21, 2026, and the console launch will arrive alongside a large update designed to improve several parts of the game.
The developers have outlined new cosmetics, clearer combat feedback, vehicle damage indicators, dynamic events and easier progression as part of the update. The team is also actively testing the console version on Xbox development hardware ahead of release.
Samson previously launched on PC and received criticism for several parts of its experience. The upcoming update appears focused on addressing some of those complaints while adding more variety to the open world.

Combat and vehicle systems are getting clearer feedback
One of the more practical changes involves melee combat.
Samson will gain new combat indicators that use yellow and red flashes to communicate the type of attack an enemy is preparing. This should make defensive reactions easier to read during fights and reduce some of the uncertainty surrounding incoming attacks.
Vehicle combat is also being adjusted.
Weak spot shaders will appear on cars to show where damage has accumulated and where you should focus attacks. The developers are also tuning missions to reduce frustrating failure conditions connected to vehicle encounters.
These changes are intended to make takedown driving easier to understand without removing the need to manage positioning and damage.
More activities will appear around the city
The update will expand the number of events that can happen while exploring.
Dynamic encounters and debt collectors will be able to appear throughout the city, giving players more activities outside the main missions.
Tutorials are also being revised with clearer text and better visual information. This should help explain systems that may not have been communicated clearly in the original PC release.
Debris boards are receiving improvements as well. They will provide larger nitrous refills and more useful vehicle repairs, making them more valuable during extended driving sections.
Progression is also being adjusted so action points are easier to unlock.
Samson gets new cosmetic options
Players will have more ways to change Samson's appearance through a new selection of jackets.

Six jackets are being added in total. Five of them can be earned through levelling and skill point progression.
The cosmetic additions are relatively small compared with the mechanical changes, but they provide another reason to engage with progression systems.
Xbox version is still being tested for September 21
The developers say they are actively playing and testing Samson on Xbox and PlayStation development kits as the September 21 console launch approaches.
The recently demonstrated footage was captured on PC, so the final Xbox performance has not yet been shown in detail.
There is also no Xbox Store wishlist page available at the time of the announcement.
The expected price is £20.99 or $24.99.
For players who skipped the earlier PC release because of its problems, the console launch may provide a better point of entry. The update addresses several quality of life issues while adding new activities and clearer combat systems, although the Xbox version itself will need to be evaluated once it becomes available on September 21.
