Resident Evil Requiem mod pushes ray tracing and path tracing beyond Capcom’s settings

Resident Evil Requiem already looks excellent on PC, but a new mod lets players push its visuals even further if they have enough GPU power.

The Graphics Enhancement mod, created by JoHien and available for free on Nexus Mods, adds deeper control over the game’s graphics settings. Resident Evil Requiem normally caps ray tracing at High, but this mod goes beyond that limit with extra options for ray tracing, path tracing, shadows, reflections, post processing, and more.

The mod works through the REFramework Script UI and gives players an in game menu for tuning visual features.

Some of the regular graphics options include image post processing, film grain, texture quality, subsurface scattering diffusion, shadow presets, contact shadows, screen space reflections, and ambient occlusion.

The more interesting part is the ray tracing and path tracing control.

AreaWhat the mod adds
Ray tracing qualityPushes RT beyond the in game High setting
RT reflectionsLets players control roughness thresholds for reflective surfaces
RTAOAdds ray traced ambient occlusion for more accurate contact shadows
RTAO distanceControls how far ambient occlusion rays reach
RT translucentAdds ray tracing for glass, foliage, and other translucent geometry
DenoisingAdds aggressive denoise options, though ghosting may appear
Path tracing ray bounceControls the number of ray bounces for more accurate lighting
IBL controlsLets players adjust image based lighting behavior
Hair shadowsAdds enhanced strand shadows in the path tracing pipeline
ReSTIR GIAdds an experimental global illumination option

The mod also includes extra options for ray tracing and path tracing shading, diffuse global illumination, and other lighting features. In the developer’s comparison shots, the modded RT Ultra setting appears to improve lighting depth, contact shadows, and scene richness compared with the game’s normal RT High mode.

This is clearly not for every PC. Higher ray tracing and path tracing settings can be extremely demanding, and players may need a high end GPU to use the mod smoothly. Some experimental options may also vary by scene or cause visual issues.

Still, for players who enjoy tweaking PC visuals, this is the kind of mod that can make a strong looking game look even better. Resident Evil Requiem is already one of Capcom’s best looking survival horror games, and the mod gives enthusiasts more control than the official settings allow.

Capcom is also still updating the game. The free LEON MUST DIE FOREVER minigame mode was recently added, and a larger DLC expansion is still planned for a later date. Details on that expansion remain limited, but datamined cut content suggests Capcom may still have more mechanics and story ideas to use.

For now, the Graphics Enhancement mod gives PC players another reason to revisit Resident Evil Requiem. If your hardware can handle it, the mod offers a more flexible and more demanding version of the game’s lighting system than Capcom shipped by default.
