Razer has launched the Soma Chroma, a new gaming chair with built in RGB lighting that can react to games in real time. Priced at $499.99, it is Razer’s first chair to include native Chroma lighting, bringing the company’s familiar RGB system to another part of the gaming setup.
The Soma Chroma is designed for people who want their desk, keyboard, mouse, headset, and chair to share the same lighting effects. Razer says the chair can synchronise with more than 300 supported games, changing colours and effects during gameplay to match on screen action.
RGB lighting has been common in gaming accessories for years, but chairs have largely avoided it. The Soma Chroma changes that with illuminated sections built into the back of the chair, creating a more connected look for a gaming room or streaming setup.
Razer Chroma Lighting Supports Millions of Colours
The chair supports 16.8 million colours and includes 10 lighting presets. You can use these effects to match the rest of your Razer hardware, room lighting, or personal setup.
A USB C cable powers the lighting system. It can connect to a wall adapter or a standard power bank, giving you some flexibility depending on where the chair is placed.
Razer has also added a control panel at the top of the headrest. From there, you can switch lighting effects, change brightness, and move between PC and mobile connections.
For PC use, the chair connects through a 2.4GHz USB dongle. Mobile controls are handled through Bluetooth and Razer’s Furniture app.

The Chair Focuses on Basic Gaming Comfort Features
Beyond its RGB lighting, the Soma Chroma uses a reinforced steel frame and a five star wheelbase. Razer says it is recommended for people between 5 feet 3 inches and 6 feet tall, with a maximum suggested weight of 331 pounds.

The chair can recline up to 155 degrees, which should make it easier to relax between games, watch content, or use a controller away from a desk. It also includes a fixed lumbar arch for lower back support.
The lumbar system is not adjustable, which may be a limitation for people who prefer more control over their seating position. Razer’s higher end Iskur models offer more advanced lumbar support, but the Soma Chroma appears focused on combining core comfort features with RGB lighting at a lower price.
The chair also includes cold cured dual density foam and 2D armrests. Those armrests can be adjusted for height and swivel angle, although they do not offer the wider range of movement found on more expensive chairs.
The Soma Chroma Is Built for RGB Focused Setups
The Soma Chroma will not be the right choice for everyone. Its RGB lighting is the main attraction, and buyers who care only about ergonomics may find better options at this price.
However, it gives Razer fans a chair that fits naturally with a Chroma based gaming setup. For streamers, content creators, and people who enjoy a coordinated desk space, the lighting could add a distinctive visual feature that most gaming chairs do not offer.
The Razer Soma Chroma is available now for $499.99.
