Using the Razer Kraken Pro V2 gaming headset
The Razer Kraken Pro V2 headset looks premium and the colors of the green version that we tested, makes you think about an aggressive serpent... 🙂
A thing we noticed right from the start, before even wearing it, is that the Razer Kraken Pro V2 is massive. The ear cups are large and bulky and the headband is thick and wide. Do not imagine that the headphones are not good looking because they are - but they are also big. Unfortunately, their large size also means that they have a tendency to wobble on your head, so we do not recommend that you use them away from your computer or gaming console. Wearing them and listening to the music on your smartphone while walking is not recommended.
The large ear cups are covered in faux leather, which looks good and helps with noise isolation. However, the downside is that they also can make your ears hot and sweaty after less than an hour of keeping the headset on your head.
The headband is large, thick and extendable. It fits any head size, regardless of how large or small yours is. The headband is made of solid metal so it should withstand even the most aggressive twists, and the plush on it is soft and breathable. It should not make your head sweat even if you are bald... 🙂
Listening to music on the Razer Kraken Pro V2 headphones is a decent experience, although not spectacular. It manages to offer a pleasant bass and high-frequency sounds, but it falls short when it comes to mids. That is easily noticeable when you are listening to music tracks with lots of voice singing. However, if you are into music such as hip-hop, trip-hop, or electronic, you should be satisfied with how the Razer Kraken Pro V2 sounds.
The Razer Kraken Pro V2 headset is designed for gamers, so we could not have missed using them while playing a few games. We used the headset while playing League of Legends, Assassin's Creed Black Flag, and Dishonored 2. The sound is excellent, with impressive bass and distinct high-frequency tones. Firing guns is especially satisfactory, so if you like playing first-person shooters, you should love the Razer Kraken Pro V2.
The Razer Kraken Pro V2 has a built-in microphone. It is retractable and adjustable so you can position as you like, or tuck it inside the headset when you do not use it. With the sole exception of League of Legends, we prefer to play single-player games, so we did not actually use this headset while playing other multiplayer games. However, we used it on an iPhone SE to make a few calls and the microphone did a very good job. The people to whom we have spoken over the phone all said that they could hear us nice and clear.
Using the Razer Kraken Pro V2 is a pleasure if you are into games. It sounds great in games, especially in first-person shooters. It is comfortable to wear, without squeezing your head or making you uncomfortable. The microphone also does an excellent job, so if you are into multiplayer games, it is a big positive. The only things we did not like about the Razer Kraken Pro V2 are the fact that it tends to make your ears sweat and that listening to music is not a top-notch experience. However, considering its price and quality, this is a great headset.
