Philips Evnia Reveals Triple-Mode Fast IPS Monitors With Up to 540Hz Refresh Rate

Philips has introduced two new Evnia gaming monitors that offer three different resolution and refresh rate modes, reaching up to 540Hz when switched to 720p. The 27-inch Fast IPS displays are designed for players who want one monitor for high-resolution games, competitive shooters, and extremely fast esports settings.

The new models are the Philips Evnia 27M4N3500PT and 27M4N5500PT. Both use a QHD Fast IPS panel and let players change between 2560x1440 at up to 275Hz, 1920x1080 at 360Hz, and 1280x720 at 540Hz.

This gives players more flexibility than a typical high-refresh monitor. Instead of choosing between image quality and speed when buying a display, the triple-mode design lets you adjust the monitor depending on the game you are playing.

Three Modes Target Different Types of Games

At its highest resolution, the monitor runs at 2560x1440 with an overclocked 275Hz refresh rate. This mode is likely to suit cinematic single-player games, racing games, RPGs, and titles where sharper image quality matters more than extremely high frame rates.

The second mode lowers the resolution to 1080p and increases the refresh rate to 360Hz. This is a more common esports-focused setting and should work well for games such as Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Overwatch, Fortnite, and Call of Duty.

The final mode drops all the way to 1280x720 and raises the refresh rate to 540Hz. That setting is clearly aimed at competitive players who want the lowest possible display latency and can run games at extremely high frame rates.

The 720p mode may not appeal to everyone, especially on a 27-inch screen where image sharpness will be noticeably lower. Still, it gives competitive players another option without requiring a separate 500Hz or 540Hz monitor.

Fast IPS Panel Keeps the Focus on Speed and Colour

Philips is using a Fast IPS panel rather than OLED technology for these monitors. That should provide wider viewing angles and stronger colour consistency than older TN esports displays, while still allowing for very high refresh rates.

The displays also support HDR in their QHD mode, though Philips has not yet shared detailed brightness, contrast, or local dimming information. Those specifications will matter for players deciding whether the monitors can handle both competitive gaming and media use well.

The monitor modes are changed through the on-screen display menu, allowing players to switch settings without changing to a different monitor profile in Windows.

Premium Model Adds Better Stand and Ambient Lighting

The two models share the same core triple-mode panel, but the 27M4N5500PT is positioned as the more premium option.

The higher-end version includes a more flexible stand and Philips’ ambient lighting feature, which can add colour effects behind the monitor.

Both monitors also include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connections, making them suitable for gaming PCs and newer consoles, although the highest refresh rate modes will mainly benefit PC players with powerful hardware.

Availability Starts in the APAC Region

Philips is initially launching the Evnia M4 monitors in the Asia-Pacific region. There is no confirmed release date or pricing information for North America, Europe, or other markets yet.

The triple-mode idea may sound excessive, but it reflects how gaming monitors are increasingly trying to cover more than one type of player. A single display can now offer sharp QHD gaming for everyday use, a 360Hz mode for competitive shooters, and a 540Hz option for players who value speed above all else.
