Philips Evnia Introduces Triple Mode IPS Gaming Monitors With Up to 540Hz Refresh Rate

Philips has announced two new Evnia gaming monitors that offer three different resolution and refresh rate modes on the same 27 inch Fast IPS panel. The new 27M4N3500PT and 27M4N5500PT are designed for players who want sharper visuals for single player games but also want extreme refresh rates for competitive shooters.

The main feature is the ability to switch between QHD, Full HD, and HD modes through the monitor’s on screen display. At its highest resolution, the panel runs at 2560 x 1440 with a 275Hz overclocked refresh rate and HDR support. Players can then lower the resolution to 1920 x 1080 for 360Hz gameplay or drop all the way to 1280 x 720 to reach a 540Hz refresh rate.

This approach gives players more flexibility than traditional single mode monitors. Instead of choosing between a high resolution screen or an esports focused high refresh rate display, the Evnia M4 series attempts to cover both needs in one product.

Three display modes target different types of games

The QHD mode is likely to be the main option for most players. A 2560 x 1440 resolution looks sharp on a 27 inch display and gives modern games more detail than Full HD. The 275Hz refresh rate is also already fast enough for competitive games.

The Full HD mode is aimed at players who want higher frame rates without reducing image quality too heavily. At 360Hz, it could appeal to people playing games such as Counter Strike 2, Valorant, Overwatch, and Fortnite.

The 720p mode is the most unusual option. It allows the monitor to reach 540Hz, but the lower resolution may look soft on a 27 inch screen. It is likely intended for serious esports players who care more about motion clarity and input response than visual detail.

Fast IPS panel keeps the focus on speed and colour

Philips is using a Fast IPS panel rather than OLED technology for these monitors. IPS displays are often valued for better viewing angles and colour consistency, while Fast IPS panels are built to reduce response times for gaming.

The monitors also include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connections, giving players modern options for gaming PCs and current consoles. Philips has not shared full global pricing or release details yet, and the first launch is expected to focus on the Asia Pacific region.

The higher end 27M4N5500PT model adds a more adjustable stand and customisable ambient lighting. That may make it more appealing for desk setups where ergonomics and visual design matter as much as raw performance.

Triple mode monitors are becoming a new gaming trend

Gaming monitor makers are increasingly experimenting with multi mode panels. Dual mode models have already allowed players to switch between a high resolution setting and a lower resolution mode with a faster refresh rate.

Philips is taking that idea one step further by adding a third performance profile. It gives players a wider choice, although the usefulness of 720p at 540Hz will depend on the game and the person using it.

For most buyers, the 1440p 275Hz and 1080p 360Hz modes will probably be the most practical options. Still, the addition of a 540Hz setting shows how far display makers are willing to go for esports focused performance.

The Evnia M4 series may not be necessary for every player, but it offers an interesting solution for anyone who wants one monitor that can handle detailed games, competitive shooters, and ultra fast esports titles.
