Paramount Games Studio Becomes New Home for Amy Hennig’s Marvel and Star Wars Projects

Paramount Skydance is making a larger move into video games with the launch of Paramount Games Studio, a new internal development and publishing division that brings the company’s gaming efforts under one structure. The new studio will include projects already in development, including Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and Amy Hennig’s untitled Star Wars game.

The move was reported by Variety and comes as Paramount Skydance looks at games as a bigger part of its long term content strategy. Instead of treating games as a smaller extension of film and television, the company is now placing them beside movies, streaming, and TV as a core part of how it builds and expands its franchises.

Tony Driscoll will lead the new division. He previously worked at Epic Games and served as an advisor to Skydance before becoming executive vice president of corporate strategy and development and games at Paramount. He will continue in that executive role while also guiding Paramount Games Studio.

The new structure combines Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media into one larger games business. Dan Prigg, formerly head of Skydance Interactive, is now executive vice president and head of games for Paramount. Shawn Kittelsen has been named senior vice president and head of creative and production.

Amy Hennig takes a key creative role inside Paramount Games Studio

One of the biggest names attached to the new division is Amy Hennig, best known for her work on the Uncharted series. She is now creative director of Paramount Games Studio, which makes her one of the most important figures in the company’s gaming push.

Hennig has not released a completed game since her Naughty Dog days, but she has remained one of the most respected narrative game creators in the industry. Her upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is still listed as part of Paramount Games Studio’s portfolio and is expected to arrive sometime in 2026. Her untitled Star Wars project also remains in development.

Paramount wants games to become a core part of its content business

Driscoll described the launch as a meaningful evolution in how Paramount thinks about games. The company wants to create games for different types of players, from casual audiences to AAA fans, while building long term experiences around both Paramount owned properties and original worlds.

That is a practical shift. Major entertainment companies increasingly see games as more than licensed side projects. A successful game can keep a franchise active for years, build deeper fan engagement, and reach audiences in ways that films and shows cannot. Paramount has a large library of franchises, and placing its games under one studio could help it manage those properties more clearly.

The timing is also important because Paramount Games Studio is expected to reveal the first game from its new slate during Summer Game Fest 2026. The report did not confirm whether that reveal will be Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the Star Wars project, or something else. Since Rise of Hydra is still expected in 2026, it would not be surprising if Paramount uses the event to show more of Hennig’s Marvel game.

The new studio gives Paramount a clearer path in games

Paramount’s gaming plans now look more organized than before. By joining Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media under the same banner, the company can build a single identity for its game releases and avoid treating each project as a separate experiment.

The challenge will be execution. Games based on major entertainment properties can attract attention quickly, but they still need strong gameplay, clear production focus, and enough time to meet player expectations. Hennig’s involvement gives Paramount credibility in story driven games, while the Marvel and Star Wars projects give the studio major brands to start with.

Paramount Games Studio is still new, but its purpose is clear. The company wants games to become a serious part of its future, not only a way to extend existing franchises. With Amy Hennig in a central creative role and multiple high profile projects already in development, Paramount is now making a stronger push into one of entertainment’s most competitive spaces.
