Mattel is celebrating Xbox’s 25th anniversary with a large buildable recreation of the original 2001 console, complete with a matching Duke controller and hidden game themed displays inside.
The set is called the Microsoft Xbox Building Toy Kit for Collectors and contains 3,509 pieces. It recreates the original Xbox at approximately 1:1 scale rather than shrinking the design into a smaller display model.
The biggest surprise is inside the console, where Mattel has included miniature scenes based on Halo, Psychonauts and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

The model reproduces the large black design of the first Xbox console and includes a brick built version of the original Duke controller.
At a distance, the completed model is intended to resemble the actual console, while opening it reveals the more decorative elements inside.
Halo, Psychonauts and Morrowind scenes are hidden inside
The internal game displays are one of the set’s most distinctive features.
Mattel has created small dioramas representing Halo, Psychonauts and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, three games strongly associated with the original Xbox era.
These internal scenes include built in lighting that can be activated through the Duke controller.

Price is significantly higher than the Xbox 360 set
Mattel previously released a brick built Xbox 360 set for around $150.
The new original Xbox kit costs more than twice as much at $329.99, although it is also larger, contains more pieces and includes the internal dioramas and lighting system.
That price may still be difficult to justify for some collectors, particularly because working original Xbox consoles can often be found for considerably less on the used market.
The appeal here is therefore likely to be more about construction, display value and nostalgia than owning a functional piece of Xbox hardware.
The set joins Xbox’s 25th anniversary lineup
Microsoft is using 2026 to celebrate 25 years since the original Xbox launched.
The Mattel Brick Shop model is one part of that wider anniversary effort, alongside other hardware and accessory projects inspired by the original console.
A translucent green Xbox controller has also been rumored for release later this year, with possible reservations beginning around Gamescom and an October 20 launch being discussed.
That controller has not been officially confirmed in the supplied article.
The Mattel Xbox set also does not yet have a firm release date.
For collectors, however, the combination of a full size original Xbox recreation, a Duke controller and illuminated references to Halo, Psychonauts and Morrowind makes this one of the more elaborate anniversary products announced so far.
