Marvel’s Wolverine is not confirmed for PC as Sony appears to pull back from single player ports

Marvel’s Wolverine is currently confirmed only for PlayStation 5, and PC players should not expect a launch version. Insomniac Games has now shown more gameplay for the upcoming superhero action game, but Sony’s messaging remains focused on PS5 consoles ahead of the game’s September 15, 2026 release.

That is disappointing for PC players, especially because Insomniac’s Spider Man games eventually made the jump from PlayStation to PC. Marvel’s Spider Man, Spider Man: Miles Morales, and Spider Man 2 all reached PC after their original console launches. Spider Man 2 arrived on PC about one year and three months after its PS5 debut, which gave many players hope that Wolverine would follow the same path.

Right now, that hope looks much weaker.

Recent reports suggest Sony has changed its strategy for first party single player games. Instead of continuing to bring major narrative driven PlayStation exclusives to PC after a delay, the company is reportedly moving back toward stronger console exclusivity for those titles. If that strategy holds, Marvel’s Wolverine may stay locked to PS5 rather than getting a PC version later.

Sony’s likely exception appears to be multiplayer games. Titles such as Helldivers 2 showed how successful a simultaneous PlayStation and PC launch can be when the game depends on a large online community. Marathon is also expected to fit that broader multiplayer approach. Single player games, however, may now be treated differently.

That puts Wolverine in a difficult place for PC fans. The game is exactly the kind of title Sony may want to keep exclusive to sell PlayStation hardware. It is a major Marvel project, made by one of Sony’s most important studios, and based on a character with huge mainstream appeal. If Sony wants PS5 to feel essential again, Wolverine is the kind of game it would keep close.

The latest gameplay also makes the wait harder. Insomniac is building a darker and more violent superhero game than Spider Man, which fits Logan’s character. The footage shows a grittier tone, brutal combat, and a focus on close range action. After years of waiting, Wolverine finally looks like a real game rather than just a logo reveal.

For PC players, the situation is frustrating because Sony spent years building goodwill through ports. God of War, Horizon, Days Gone, The Last of Us, and the Spider Man games helped make PlayStation’s catalog more accessible. Those releases also proved there is a strong PC audience for Sony’s single player games.

But Sony may now see that differently. If PC ports arrive too soon, some players may skip PlayStation hardware entirely. With console prices rising and competition changing, Sony may be trying to protect the value of its own platform again.

That does not mean a PC version of Marvel’s Wolverine is impossible forever. Sony could still change course later, especially if the game has already sold strongly on PS5. A delayed PC port remains possible in theory. But based on the current information, there is no confirmation, no release window, and no clear sign that Wolverine is planned for PC.

For now, the answer is simple: Marvel’s Wolverine is a PS5 game. PC players may have to wait and hope, but Sony’s current direction makes that wait feel much less certain than it did during the Spider Man era.
