Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has received a surprise crossover quest featuring Jimbo from Balatro, bringing a new twist to the RPG’s dice minigame. The update adds a special challenge at the Hangman’s Halter Tavern, where Henry can face Jimbo in a match using a unique weighted die with unusual powers.
The crossover arrived through version 1.5.6, which also adds Steam Controller support and smaller fixes. However, the main attraction is clearly the new Balatro themed quest, which gives players a new collectible die and an item that can change its result during future games.
Jimbo appears as a travelling stranger from Italy who claims to have brought a new version of the dice game to Bohemia. Players who find him near the tavern can accept his challenge and sit down for a match against him.
Balatro’s Die Can Change the Rules of the Dice Game
The special item added in the quest is called Balatro’s Die. One of its sides features Jimbo’s familiar jester face, and when that side lands face up, you can decide what value it counts as.
That gives the die a major advantage during matches. Instead of relying completely on luck, you can use it to complete a needed combination or improve a weak roll.
| New reward | What it does |
|---|---|
| Balatro’s Die | Lets you choose its value when the jester side appears |
| Tin Balatro’s Badge | Allows one result change per dice game |
| Jimbo quest | Adds a new tavern encounter and challenge |
| Steam Controller support | Added with update 1.5.6 |
The die should be especially useful for players who enjoy the dice minigame but want more control over their results. It also fits Balatro’s style well, since the card game is built around changing rules, manipulating odds, and turning ordinary hands into powerful combinations.
Jimbo’s Quest Starts at the Hangman’s Halter Tavern
Jimbo is said to be waiting around the Hangman’s Halter Tavern, although players may need to sleep or reload the area before he appears. Once found, he introduces the special die and offers Henry a chance to play against him.

After winning, Henry receives the die and Tin Balatro’s Badge. Jimbo then leaves town but says he may return in a few days, suggesting the crossover could have more to offer later.
The quest is a small addition compared with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s larger story content, but it is a fun reward for players who enjoy unusual side activities. Warhorse has used the game’s grounded medieval setting to support a surprising crossover without making it feel completely disconnected from the world.
A Small Crossover That Adds More Value to a Strong Minigame
The dice game has already been one of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s better side systems, especially because it gives players something relaxed to do between major quests, combat encounters, and exploration.
Adding a special die with an adjustable result makes the minigame more interesting without changing its basic rules. It also gives players a useful reward that can remain valuable long after the crossover quest is complete.
The Balatro update is a clever example of a crossover that adds gameplay value rather than only cosmetic content. For players who enjoy both games, seeing Jimbo appear in medieval Bohemia is an unexpected bonus.
