Use these steps to remove Gmail from your Google Account while keeping other Google services (Drive, YouTube, Photos). If you want to erase everything, see Delete your entire Google Account at the end.
iPhone & iPad
- Open any Google app (Gmail/Google/Drive) and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Google Account → Data & privacy.
- Under Download or delete your data, tap Delete a Google service.
- Choose Gmail → follow the prompts.
- Enter a non-Gmail email for future sign-in, verify the code, then confirm Delete Gmail.
Android
- Open Settings → Google → Manage your Google Account.
- Go to Data & privacy.
- Under Download or delete your data, tap Delete a Google service.
- Select Gmail, add a non-Gmail email, verify, and confirm Delete Gmail.
Web (myaccount.google.com)
- Sign in, then open Data & privacy.
- In Download or delete your data, click Delete a Google service.
- Pick Gmail, provide a non-Gmail email, verify, and confirm Delete Gmail.
To keep your emails, first export them: Data & privacy → Download your data. After deletion, your Gmail address can’t be reused, and you’ll sign in to Google with the new email you added.
Delete your entire Google Account (optional)
If you want to remove all services and data:
- Data & privacy → More options.
- Select Delete your Google Account, enter your password, review what’s removed, and confirm.
