Framework Cuts LPCAMM2 Prices for Some Laptop 13 Pro Orders

Framework has reduced LPCAMM2 memory pricing for some Laptop 13 Pro customers after securing a limited batch of 32GB and 64GB modules at a lower cost.

The price reduction applies first to existing orders through Batch 10. Customers who ordered systems using the higher memory prices will automatically receive the lower rate, while some buyers who already paid the higher amount are set to receive refunds for the difference.

The change is temporary and does not represent a broad reduction in LPCAMM2 pricing across Framework's store.

Limited cheaper supply allows Framework to lower costs

Framework says it recently obtained a limited quantity of Micron LPCAMM2 modules at a lower price than its previous inventory.

The company is passing those savings directly to affected Laptop 13 Pro customers.

This follows a major pricing increase announced in July, when Framework said its supplier costs for LPCAMM2 had more than doubled compared with the earlier stock used when Laptop 13 Pro preorders opened.

Even with the newly sourced modules, Framework says the cost remains higher than the pricing available at the start of the preorder period.

Existing customers get priority

Framework is applying the lower memory pricing to existing Laptop 13 Pro customers before opening it more widely.

Pending orders through Batch 10 that were configured after the higher LPCAMM2 prices took effect will be adjusted automatically.

Customers who already received their laptops after paying the increased price are also expected to receive a refund covering the difference.

Batch 10 buyers can additionally change their configurations to 32GB or 64GB memory options using the reduced pricing while the lower cost inventory remains available.

Framework says any remaining modules will then be offered to later preorder batches.

Only after those customers are served could the cheaper memory become available for completely new orders.

Regular store pricing has not changed

The temporary adjustment does not affect Framework's normal US store prices for LPCAMM2 memory.

The 16GB module remains listed at $239, while the 32GB version costs $800 and the 64GB option is listed at $1,600.

That means customers placing entirely new orders should not expect to receive the lower Batch 10 pricing at this stage.

The wider availability of reduced prices will depend on whether Framework can obtain additional LPCAMM2 supply at similar costs.

LPCAMM2 pricing remains volatile

The latest adjustment highlights how quickly memory costs can change when manufacturers rely on relatively limited supply.

Framework's July increase followed a sharp rise in supplier pricing, while the September reduction came only after the company found a cheaper batch of Micron modules.

The company has chosen to pass both increases and decreases through to customers rather than maintaining a fixed memory price.

Framework also reportedly found less expensive Core Ultra X9 processors for some systems, although the supplied information does not confirm the exact reason for that adjustment.

For now, the LPCAMM2 savings are limited to qualifying Framework Laptop 13 Pro orders, with wider availability dependent on future supply.
