Ubisoft has released the final content update for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, introducing New Game Plus, Nightmare difficulty, restored combat animations, and additional cosmetic items.
Update 1.0.8 became available on October 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing several previously promised features to the remake.
The update allows players to replay Edward Kenway's campaign while retaining much of their previous progress. It also introduces a more challenging experience for players who have already completed the story.
The release comes shortly after Ubisoft announced layoffs affecting its Singapore development team, which worked on the remake.
New Game Plus Allows Up to Five Campaign Playthroughs
The new mode allows players to repeat the campaign up to five times, with each subsequent playthrough introducing more elite enemies and higher-ranked naval opponents.
Most character upgrades, equipment, and progression systems carry over, reducing the need to unlock everything again.
| Progress retained | Progress reset or changed |
|---|---|
| Edward's weapons, tools, and upgrades | Quest-related items removed |
| Jackdaw upgrades and abilities | Officers must be recruited again |
| Money, materials, and trade goods | Forts must be recaptured |
| Outfits and customization options | Map exploration fog resets |
| Hideout progression and fleet ships | New currency introduced |
Previously collected treasure maps, Codex entries, and purchased store items also remain available.
These changes allow players to revisit the campaign with stronger equipment while preserving challenges associated with exploration and progression.
Nightmare Mode Makes Combat and Stealth More Difficult
Nightmare Mode introduces a significantly higher difficulty level across combat, stealth, naval encounters, and other activities.
Enemy attacks become more dangerous, with certain situations capable of killing Edward instantly.

For example, a bullet striking Edward's head can result in immediate death.
The update also restores several takedown animations from the original Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
These include hidden blade, unarmed, single sword, and gunblade executions.
Additional cosmetic items, hidden community chests, and bug fixes are included.
Final Update Available Across PC and Consoles
Update 1.0.8 requires approximately 4GB of storage for downloads on PC and PlayStation 5.
Xbox Series X|S owners face a larger download of approximately 15.5GB.
Ubisoft has described this as the remake's final content update, ending its planned feature additions several months after launch.
Players can now revisit the Caribbean campaign with additional challenges, expanded replay options, and restored combat features.
