Microsoft has released World Update 23 for Microsoft Flight Simulator and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, introducing major scenery improvements across Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The free update enhances 12 geographical areas and adds 77 custom landmarks, five handcrafted airports, three discovery flights, and four landing challenges.
Released on October 27, 2026, the update represents the first dedicated World Update focused on these four European countries.
It is available as an optional download through the in-game marketplace for supported platforms, provided the game has been updated to its latest version.
World Update 23 Improves Scenery Across Four European Countries
The development team has improved the region's landscapes and architecture using updated geographical data and detailed terrain reconstruction.
The update incorporates photogrammetry, triangulated irregular network surface texturing, and digital elevation model data.

These technologies help reproduce buildings, terrain elevations, and other geographical features more accurately.
Of the 12 enhanced areas, eight are located in Poland, two in Lithuania, one in Latvia, and one in Estonia.
The update also introduces 77 individually modeled landmarks, including castles, bridges, lighthouses, and other recognizable structures.
These additions provide more detailed surroundings for players exploring the region from the air.
Five Airports and New Flight Challenges Added
Alongside the scenery improvements, Microsoft has introduced several activities designed to highlight the updated locations.
| New content | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Enhanced geographical areas | 12 |
| Custom landmarks | 77 |
| Handcrafted airports | 5 |
| Discovery flights | 3 |
| Landing challenges | 4 |
The discovery flights allow players to explore selected landscapes, while the landing challenges provide additional opportunities to test their piloting skills.
A separate aircraft release is also available through the marketplace.
The Antonov An-28, a utility aircraft designed for short takeoffs and landings, is available for $14.99.
Unlike World Update 23, the aircraft requires a separate purchase.
Microsoft Flight Simulator Update 23 Is Free on Supported Platforms
World Update 23 is available for both Microsoft Flight Simulator titles through their in-game marketplaces.
Supported platforms include PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
Players can also access the updated content through supported Game Pass subscriptions.
Xbox Cloud Gaming provides another option for eligible Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on supported devices.
The update continues Microsoft's regular schedule of scenery improvements and additional activities.
With enhanced terrain, detailed landmarks, and new flight challenges, World Update 23 expands the opportunities to explore Poland and the Baltic countries without requiring an additional purchase.
