Forza Horizon 6 best drag cars and tuning settings to win races faster

Forza Horizon 6 has plenty of ways to test your driving, but drag racing is one of the simplest and most competitive. You do not need perfect cornering, braking, or racing lines. You need the right car, the right launch, the right tune, and clean manual shifts. If you want three stars on drag strips, speed traps, and straight line challenges, a few setup changes can make a big difference.

The first thing to change is your driving settings. Automatic shifting may feel easier, but it will hold you back in serious drag racing. Manual shifting gives you more control over launch speed, gear timing, and acceleration. Manual with clutch can still help in some older cars, but for newer vehicles and many upgraded builds, regular manual is usually enough.

Traction Control should be turned off because it cuts power when the wheels start slipping. That can be useful in normal racing, but it hurts drag performance because a tuned drag car needs full engine power. ABS can also be turned off, since braking is not important in a straight line drag run. Launch Control should stay on for most players, especially on a controller, because it helps manage RPM at the start without needing perfect throttle control.

The easiest drag car to start with is the 1991 Honda Beat. It is available from the Autoshow, so you do not need to wait for a lucky Wheelspin or special reward. Once upgraded, it becomes surprisingly strong and can help clear drag events, speed traps, speed zones, danger signs, and some trailblazers.

The Mazda Miata MX 5 FE 1994 is another excellent choice. It works well on drag strips, but it is also useful for speed traps and speed zones because it handles tighter Japanese roads better than some pure straight line cars. If you want one car that can do more than drag races, the Miata FE is one of the safest picks.

The best pure drag option is the Nissan GTR FE. It is built for straight line speed and works especially well on longer drag strips. With a wheelie bar and parachute styling, it is clearly made for drag racing more than general driving. The Toyota AE86 FE is also worth mentioning, but it takes more effort to unlock because it requires 5,000 points in the Discover Japan Master Explorer journal.

CarWhy it is useful
Honda Beat 1991Cheap, easy to get, strong after upgrades
Mazda Miata MX 5 FE 1994Great for drag, speed traps, and speed zones
Nissan GTR FEBest long distance drag monster
Toyota AE86 FEStrong runner up, but harder to unlock

For upgrades, focus on power, grip, and weight reduction. Use the biggest engine swap available, switch to all wheel drive when possible, install drag tires, use the widest rear tires, and reduce weight as much as possible. Lighter rims, removed aero, and full weight reduction all help. For most players, all wheel drive will be faster and easier than rear wheel drive, even if purists prefer traditional drag setups.

For tuning, keep camber close to zero, set toe to zero, use maximum caster, stiffen anti roll bars, soften springs, raise ride height, and set front damping soft with rear damping stiff. Differential acceleration around 85 percent is a good starting point.

Gearing is the part you must adjust by feel. First gear matters most because it controls your launch. If the car spins too much, lengthen first gear. If it launches slowly, shorten it. The goal is to reach high RPM quickly without wasting power through wheelspin. Your final gear should hit the top of its RPM range right as you cross the finish line.

Drag racing in Forza Horizon 6 is not complicated, but small details matter. The right car and tune can turn a normal run into a leaderboard run. Start with the Honda Beat if you want something easy, move to the Miata FE for more flexibility, and use the GTR FE when you want to dominate longer drag strips.
