Xbox is rolling out another safeguard for Forza Horizon 6 players affected by corrupted or missing save data. The latest change adds a cloud save recovery prompt that should let players restore their most recent saved progress instead of losing large sections of their game.
The update appears after several weeks of reports from players who lost progress, cars, credits, and other save data in Forza Horizon 6. Xbox and Playground Games have already issued system updates aimed at reducing the issue, but the latest adjustment focuses on giving players more control when a save conflict happens.
When the game detects data loss or conflicting save information, players should now see a dialog box when loading the game. Choosing the cloud save option will restore the latest version stored online, helping prevent a full reset.
New cloud save dialog should reduce the impact of corruption
The new recovery option is designed to limit major save losses to a smaller amount of progress, potentially only affecting a single session.
Instead of waiting for support teams to manually restore progress, players can choose the cloud save version directly when the conflict appears. That should make the process faster and less frustrating for anyone affected.
| Save recovery feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Conflict dialog | Appears when the game detects missing or conflicting data |
| Cloud save option | Restores the most recent cloud version |
| Faster recovery | Lets players recover progress without waiting for support |
| Reduced data loss | Aims to limit losses to one gameplay session |
| Ongoing support work | Xbox and Playground Games are still investigating other causes |
The system is not a complete solution to every possible save issue, but it is a meaningful improvement for players who previously risked losing a much larger amount of progress.
Xbox owners should check for a new console update
A separate Xbox console update is also reportedly available and is intended to address additional Forza Horizon 6 data loss scenarios. Players who have not updated recently should check their system settings manually.

To look for the update, open the Xbox guide, then go to Profile & system, Settings, System, and Updates. If an update is available, select it and allow the console to restart if needed.
Keeping the console updated may help reduce the chance of encountering the save problem, although Xbox has not said that the issue is fully resolved.
Save issues remain a serious concern for racing game players
Forza Horizon games require a huge investment of time. Players can spend dozens or hundreds of hours earning cars, completing championships, unlocking rewards, and building collections. Losing that progress can make people stop playing entirely.
The new cloud recovery system should offer better protection, especially for players who regularly use Xbox cloud saves across multiple consoles or devices. It may also help avoid situations where a local save becomes corrupted and overwrites a healthier cloud version.
Xbox and Playground Games have said they are continuing to investigate the issue as a priority. More updates may still arrive over the coming weeks as the teams identify other causes of data loss.
For now, Forza Horizon 6 players should install the latest console update, avoid interrupting sync processes when launching the game, and choose the cloud save option if the new conflict dialog appears.
