Flydigi’s Vader 5S is the company’s first Made for Xbox controller, and it arrives with a feature that many premium controllers still do not handle well: manual thumbstick tension adjustment. The wired controller is priced at $59.99 and includes Hall Effect sticks, extra configurable buttons, trigger locks, mechanical buttons, RGB lighting, and a three month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate card.
The standout feature is the pair of steel tension rings around the thumbsticks. These let players increase or decrease stick resistance without using a tool. That sounds small, but it can make a real difference. A higher tension setting can help with precision aiming in shooters, while a lower tension setting can help in games where faster turns matter more than tiny aim adjustments.
That is a cleaner approach than Microsoft’s Xbox Elite controller, which requires a tool to adjust stick tension. With the Vader 5S, the change can be made directly on the controller, making it easier to experiment between games or even between different play styles.
| Feature | Flydigi Vader 5S |
|---|---|
| Price | $59.99 |
| Platform support | Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PC |
| Connection | Wired only |
| Sticks | Hall Effect joysticks |
| Stick tension | Manual adjustment rings |
| Extra buttons | Six configurable buttons |
| Triggers | Dual mode triggers with locks |
| Software | Flydigi Space Station for Xbox |
| Audio | 3.5mm jack and microphone support |
The controller also gets several fundamentals right. Hall Effect sticks are a major plus because they should reduce the risk of stick drift, a problem that still affects many traditional controllers. The Vader 5S also includes two rear buttons, two extra front buttons, and two additional bumpers, giving players more control options without needing to move their thumbs away from the sticks.

The triggers use a dual mode design with Hall Effect analog input and micro switch behavior, depending on how players want to use them. That makes the controller more flexible for different genres. Racing games benefit from analog trigger control, while shooters often feel better with shorter trigger travel.
The Vader 5S also supports Flydigi’s Space Station for Xbox app. Through the app, players can create profiles, remap buttons, adjust response curves, and customize the RGB light strip. That gives the controller more depth than a basic wired pad, especially for players who like tuning their inputs.
The biggest weakness is not performance. It is appearance. The controller uses gold accents, gold flecks around the Xbox button area, RGB lighting, and a braided cable with blue accents that do not fully match the rest of the design. The result may feel too busy or inconsistent for players who prefer cleaner Xbox accessories.
That is unfortunate because the controller itself appears to feel excellent in hand. The ergonomics, shoulder buttons, triggers, sticks, and bumpers were all praised, and the button feel is described as clicky and satisfying. In other words, Flydigi seems to have nailed the hardware feel while making some questionable cosmetic choices.
The wired only design will also limit its audience. Some players prefer wired controllers because they reduce latency concerns and cost less, but wireless convenience is hard to give up in 2026. For people who play from a couch or a larger setup, the cable may be enough to make them look elsewhere.
Competition is also strong. GameSir’s G7 HE and G7 SE remain good wired Xbox options, and Razer’s wired Wolverine V3 sits in a similar price range. Microsoft is also expected to reveal new Xbox controllers soon, including a possible Elite Series 3, which may make some buyers wait before choosing a third party option.
Still, the Vader 5S has a clear identity. It is not just another wired Xbox controller. Its tension rings are genuinely useful, its Hall Effect sticks are welcome, and its extra buttons make it more flexible than a standard Xbox pad.
The design will not please everyone, and wireless support would have made it more appealing. But at $59.99, especially with Game Pass Ultimate included, the Flydigi Vader 5S looks like a strong first Xbox controller from the company. It may not be the prettiest option, but it brings features that more Xbox controllers should copy.
