We have obtained 100+ images of Lenovo's next tablet, an unannounced product currently going by the codename Malibu. This is an early, uncensored look at what the Idea Tab Malibu Gen lineup will look like, in every color, from every angle.
After spending a good chunk of time studying the renders, one thing is clear. Lenovo is not launching just one tablet here. It looks like there are two design tiers, five finish choices in total, and a whole lot of personality packed into a very slim body. Here is everything the press kit tells us.
Two Camera Designs, One Family
The most interesting thing about this leak is not the colors, it is the back. Across the renders we can see two clearly different camera modules on what is otherwise the same tablet body. That strongly suggests Lenovo is preparing a base model and a step-up model under the Idea Tab Malibu name.
The first design carries a wide, horizontal camera strip that runs across the top of the back panel with a small lens tucked into the right side. It is clean, minimal, and gives the tablet a straight, business-friendly look. This is very likely the standard Idea Tab, aimed at everyday buyers who want a solid, affordable slate.
The second design ditches the strip for a small pill-shaped camera island in the top-right corner. It is more compact, more modern, and it lets the rest of the back panel breathe. This is almost certainly the Plus or Pro version of the tablet, sitting one step above the base model in the lineup. Lenovo has used this kind of camera housing on some of its more premium recent tablets, so the styling makes sense.
Both designs keep a single rear camera, so this is not a phone-style multi-lens setup. Lenovo is treating the rear camera as a utility tool for document scanning, video calls, and the occasional quick capture, not a serious photo system.
Five Color Finishes That Set the Tone
The press kit shows five color and design combinations in total. The base tablet with the horizontal camera strip appears in two colors. There is a smooth Graphite Gray that will appeal to most buyers looking for something safe and grown-up, and a light Seafoam Blue that gives the tablet a fresh, pastel feel. Both look premium in the renders and both carry the classic Lenovo wordmark centered on the back.
The Plus tier with the pill-shaped camera comes in three finishes. Graphite Gray and Seafoam Blue return here, but they are joined by a much bolder Citrus Yellow. That yellow variant is the standout of the whole leak. It is bright, sunny, and clearly aimed at buyers who want their tablet to double as a lifestyle accessory. Lenovo has been experimenting with more playful finishes on its Tab and Yoga lines for a while, and the Malibu yellow feels like the biggest step yet in that direction.
Between the two tiers, buyers get a nice split between safe workhorse colors and expressive lifestyle colors, which is exactly the kind of choice tablet shoppers have been asking for.
The Display and Front Design
Flip the tablet to the front and both models look almost identical. There is a flat display panel with slim but not razor-thin bezels on all four sides. The bezels are just wide enough to hold the tablet comfortably in landscape without accidental touches, which is smart for a device that will be used a lot on a lap or a stand.
A small front camera sits at the top center of the display when the tablet is held in landscape orientation. That is a big deal for buyers who spend a lot of time on video calls, because it means your face is perfectly framed when the tablet is set on a stand or attached to a keyboard cover.
The wallpaper Lenovo used in the press shots shows off a smooth purple to blue gradient with soft geometric shapes, along with a large clock reading 10:08 and a date of Fri, Feb 24. The colors on the display look vibrant and clean, which points to a decent LCD or possibly a mid-tier OLED panel. Lenovo has been steadily pushing better screens even in its more affordable tablets, so expect something bright and readable rather than dim and washed out.
Slim Body With Simple Ports
The side profile shots reveal a very thin tablet. From the edges you can see a slim aluminum-look chassis with rounded corners and smooth flat sides. The overall look is closer to a modern iPad than a chunky budget tablet, and Lenovo has clearly put real effort into making this feel like a premium product.
The bottom edge shows a USB-C port off to one side, likely paired with a speaker cutout. The top edge shows a power button and what looks like a volume rocker along one side. It is a clean, minimal button and port layout, and Lenovo has not tried to overcomplicate things.
Who This Tablet Is For
Looking at the whole package, the Idea Tab Malibu Gen looks like Lenovo's attempt to build the perfect everyday tablet for 2026. The base model with its horizontal camera strip is a no-fuss option for reading, video calls, browsing, and light work. The Plus tier with the pill camera adds a more modern look and a bolder color choice, so buyers who want their tablet to feel a little more special have somewhere to go.
The five finish options also suggest Lenovo is aiming at a wider audience than usual. Graphite for the office crowd, Seafoam for the design-conscious buyer, and Citrus Yellow for anyone who wants their tablet to spark joy every time they pick it up.
What We Still Do Not Know
There are still big blanks in this leak. We do not yet know the exact display size, though the proportions in the renders point to a 10-11 inch class panel. We also do not have the chipset, the RAM, the storage tiers, the battery capacity, or the pricing. Speaker count is another open question. The bottom edge shows one clear cutout, but there could be a matching one on the other side for a stereo setup.
Still, the design story alone tells us a lot. Lenovo is refreshing the Idea Tab line with two design tiers and a more expressive color palette, and it is doing so with a thin, clean, modern body that punches above its budget category on looks alone. If Lenovo gets the price right, especially on the Citrus Yellow Plus model, the Idea Tab Malibu could quietly become one of the more interesting mid-range tablets of the year.
We will keep our ears to the ground and update the moment our sources share more.
