DigitalCitizen has exclusively obtained details of Samsung's next wave of foldables, and the picture is bigger than anyone expected. A fresh batch of model numbers landed in our inbox, and after spending some time decoding them, three things became very clear.
Samsung is launching a fresh Galaxy Z Flip 8, an updated Galaxy Z Fold 8, and for the first time, a new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Yes, the Ultra branding is finally arriving for the Fold line, and the lineup is bigger than any Samsung foldable launch we have seen so far. Here is everything the leak tells us.
Galaxy Z Flip 8: Four Playful Colors, Two Storage Options
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is keeping the flip phone tradition going with a bold set of color choices and a simple two-tier storage layout. The leaked variants all share the same SM-F776B model code, which lines up with Samsung's recent Flip series naming.
The eight Z Flip 8 SKUs break down like this:
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 Cream 256GB (SM-F776B)
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 Cream 512GB (SM-F776B)
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 Graphite 256GB (SM-F776B)
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 Graphite 512GB (SM-F776B)
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 Mint 256GB (SM-F776B)
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 Mint 512GB (SM-F776B)
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 Pink 256GB (SM-F776B)
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 Pink 512GB (SM-F776B)
Four colors and two storage tiers. Cream and Graphite are the classic Samsung neutrals, while Mint and Pink lean into the fun, fashion-led personality that the Flip line has owned for the past few generations. Samsung is clearly still chasing the lifestyle and gen-Z buyer here, and the color picks feel deliberate. We do not see a 1TB option for the Z Flip 8, which keeps it tighter and more focused than its bigger Fold siblings.
Galaxy Z Fold 8: Four Refined Colors, Three Storage Tiers
The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 picks up where the Fold 7 left off, but with a fresh color palette. The model code SM-F971B tells us Samsung is treating this as the core, mainstream Fold for buyers who want the full big-screen experience without paying Ultra prices.
The Z Fold 8 lineup looks like this:
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Cream 256GB, 512GB, 1TB (SM-F971B)
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Graphite 256GB, 512GB, 1TB (SM-F971B)
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Lavender 256GB, 512GB, 1TB (SM-F971B)
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Pistachio 256GB, 512GB, 1TB (SM-F971B)
Four colors, three storage options. Cream and Graphite are familiar safe picks, but Lavender and Pistachio are interesting additions. They give the standard Fold a softer, more design-led identity that helps it stand out next to the Ultra version. The full 256GB to 1TB storage spread also tells us Samsung is targeting both mainstream buyers and power users with this model.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: The Big Surprise
This is the showstopper. Samsung is officially expanding the Ultra branding into the Fold line for the first time. The model code SM-F976B is brand new, and it sits one step above the SM-F971B used for the standard Fold 8. The Ultra suffix has been a Samsung tradition for its top-tier Galaxy S phones for years, and now the foldables are getting the same treatment.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra variants are:
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Cream 256GB, 512GB, 1TB (SM-F976B)
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Graphite 256GB, 512GB, 1TB (SM-F976B)
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Green Shadow 256GB, 512GB, 1TB (SM-F976B)
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Violet Shadow 256GB, 512GB, 1TB (SM-F976B)
Four colors and three storage tiers, mirroring the standard Fold 8. But the colors here tell a different story. Where the regular Fold 8 leans into soft pastels with Lavender and Pistachio, the Ultra goes for deeper, more dramatic options. Green Shadow and Violet Shadow sound like premium, jewel-tone finishes that match Samsung's recent design language on the S Ultra phones. The Cream and Graphite options are still there as crowd-pleasers, but the Shadow colors are clearly meant to mark the Ultra as the more grown-up, statement device.
What the Model Numbers Tell Us About the Strategy
The way Samsung has structured these codes is more revealing than the colors. The standard Fold 8 sits at SM-F971B, and the Fold 8 Ultra at SM-F976B. The five-step gap between the two suggests Samsung is treating the Ultra as a real second product, not a minor refresh of the standard model. We expect the Ultra to bring meaningful upgrades over the regular Fold 8, possibly things like a bigger inner display, a better camera system, more RAM, or a thinner hinge.
The Z Flip 8 staying as a single SKU family (SM-F776B) with no Ultra version is also worth noting. Samsung is keeping the Flip simple and approachable, while pushing all of its premium engineering into the Fold Ultra. That is a smart split. The Flip is a lifestyle product, the Fold is a productivity tool, and the Fold Ultra is the new flagship of flagships.
Another small detail worth mentioning. The 1TB storage tier appears on both the Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra, but not the Flip 8. That tells you exactly which devices Samsung sees as power-user phones and which one is meant for stylish everyday use.
We still need official word on the chipsets, the cameras, the display specs, and most importantly the prices. But based on these model numbers alone, Samsung is preparing the most ambitious foldable launch in its history. If the Z Fold 8 Ultra lives up to the Ultra branding, this could be the year foldables stop feeling like an experiment and start feeling like the real flagship Android experience.
