Microsoft is developing a new Xbox achievement reward for players who complete every required achievement in a game, with the feature expected to arrive later in 2026.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that the team is working on the system after a player asked whether Xbox would introduce something similar to PlayStation’s Platinum trophies. Her response did not reveal the official name, design, eligibility rules, or an exact release date.
The confirmation addresses a long standing request from achievement hunters. Xbox games usually launch with 1,000 Gamerscore, but earning every achievement does not currently provide a separate platform level reward that clearly marks full completion.
Xbox is preparing a dedicated completion reward
PlayStation awards a Platinum trophy after you collect all required trophies in supported games. Xbox instead tracks individual achievements and total Gamerscore without adding a distinct completion award.
Microsoft now appears ready to introduce its own version of that recognition.
| Achievement feature | Current Xbox system | Planned addition |
|---|---|---|
| Individual achievements | Available | Remains available |
| Gamerscore | Available | Remains available |
| Completion percentage | Available | Remains available |
| Dedicated 100% reward | Not currently available | Coming later in 2026 |
| Official name | Not announced | Still unknown |
| Exact release date | Not announced | Later this year |
The final feature may not use the word Platinum. Microsoft could create a different name and visual identity that fits the existing Xbox achievement system.
Sharma only confirmed that the team is working on something connected to the request, leaving the implementation details open.
Post launch achievements create an important question
One issue Microsoft will need to address is how downloadable content and later updates affect completion status.
Many Xbox games launch with 1,000 Gamerscore before receiving additional achievements through expansions or free updates. A title that initially has 100 percent completion can therefore fall below that level months or years later.
Microsoft could base its new reward on the achievements available in the original game at launch. Another option would require players to complete every achievement currently available, including downloadable content.
| Possible system | Advantage | Potential problem |
|---|---|---|
| Base game achievements only | Completion reward remains permanent | Does not cover later content |
| All current achievements | Represents complete ownership of available challenges | New DLC can remove 100% status |
| Reward granted once | Protects previously earned completion | May not reflect current total |
| Separate base and DLC awards | Gives clearer progression | Adds more complexity |
The company has not explained which approach it will choose.
Using the original 1,000 Gamerscore as the requirement could provide a stable standard. However, some games launch with unusual Gamerscore totals, while others add achievements without paid expansions.
Achievement sorting is also improving
The confirmation follows another Xbox update that adds more ways to organise achievement history.
Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip Ahead ring can sort games by title, completion percentage, earned Gamerscore, and the number of achievements unlocked. Results can be displayed in ascending or descending order.
These tools should make it easier to identify unfinished games and track progress toward the upcoming completion reward.
| Sorting option | How it helps |
|---|---|
| Game title | Finds a specific game quickly |
| Completion percentage | Shows games closest to 100% |
| Gamerscore earned | Highlights the largest score totals |
| Achievements unlocked | Compares the number of completed challenges |
| Ascending or descending order | Gives more control over the list |
Microsoft has not confirmed whether the new completion award will launch alongside these sorting improvements or arrive through a separate update.
Xbox is responding to popular community requests
The achievement announcement is part of a wider set of Xbox console improvements.
Microsoft is also testing voice and party chat recording in gameplay clips, allowing each participant to decide whether their voice can be included. Other changes include restoring supported cloud save versions directly from a console and increasing the maximum wishlist size from 301 games to 1,000.
The completion reward is likely to attract particular interest because players have requested an Xbox equivalent to Platinum trophies for many years.

Gamerscore shows the total value of achievements earned, but it does not immediately tell other players which games have been fully completed. A separate award could make those accomplishments more visible across profiles, activity feeds, and game history.
Microsoft still needs to explain whether older completions will qualify automatically. Players who have already earned every achievement in supported games will want to know whether the reward will be granted retroactively or only apply to completions recorded after the feature launches.
The company has only committed to releasing something later in 2026. More details about its name, appearance, requirements, support for older games, and treatment of downloadable content should arrive closer to its rollout.
