Empulse, a new fast paced multiplayer shooter inspired by movement focused games such as Titanfall, is now available in early access on PC and Xbox Series X and S. The PlayStation 5 version has been delayed while the game waits for platform certification, with no final launch date confirmed yet.
The game comes from 1047 Games, the studio behind Splitgate. Empulse is a 6v6 shooter built around quick movement, vertical combat, and fast gunfights. It arrives after the studio spent time revising its plans for Splitgate 2, which struggled after launch and later went through a relaunch under a different format.
Empulse had already drawn attention during Steam Next Fest in June 2026. Its demo reportedly became one of the 50 most played demos during the event and added around 250,000 wishlists. That early interest does not guarantee a large player base after launch, but it gives the new game a stronger starting point than many small multiplayer releases receive.
Empulse Starts Its Early Access Run With a Lower Launch Price
The game is launching in early access at a discounted price of $15. That price may help it attract people who want a new movement shooter without committing to the cost of a full priced release.
The early access approach also gives 1047 Games time to gather feedback, improve servers, adjust balance, and add content based on how people play. This is especially important for multiplayer shooters, where the strength of the game often depends on matchmaking, map design, weapon balance, and whether there are enough active players to keep matches running.
Empulse enters a difficult market. Multiplayer shooters compete for attention against established games with large player bases, regular updates, and years of content. A strong movement system can help the game stand out, but it will also need good maps, reliable performance, and a steady update schedule to keep players interested.
| Platform | Early Access Status | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| PC | Available now | Steam |
| Xbox Series X and S | Available now | Xbox console release |
| PlayStation 5 | Delayed | Waiting for certification |
PS5 Players Will Need to Wait Longer
The PlayStation 5 version was expected to arrive alongside the other platforms, but the launch has been postponed due to certification requirements. The developer has not explained whether the delay is linked to a technical issue, submission timing, or the normal review process.

Certification is a standard part of releasing games on consoles. Platform holders test games to make sure they meet technical, security, performance, and feature requirements before allowing them onto the digital store. Delays can happen even when the game itself is ready for release on other platforms.
For now, PS5 players will have to wait for an updated release date. The delay is frustrating for people who planned to play with friends across platforms, particularly if cross platform matchmaking is part of the game’s long term plan.
Empulse Has Time to Build Its Own Audience
The game’s launch numbers are still too early to judge. New multiplayer titles often need days or weeks to find their audience, especially when they launch in early access and depend on streamers, word of mouth, patches, and community feedback.
Empulse has a clear target audience. Players who miss fast movement shooters and want wall running, quick traversal, and aggressive gunplay may find something to enjoy here. The question is whether the game can turn that initial interest into a stable long term player base.
For 1047 Games, Empulse is an important new test after the difficult response to Splitgate 2. A strong early access period could give the studio a chance to rebuild trust and prove that it can support a competitive multiplayer game over time.
