Electronic Arts has brought back 25 classic PC games from its archive, including seven restored editions with updated compatibility, improved video quality and controller support.
The collection includes several games from the 1990s, such as Road Rash, Wing Commander and Privateer 2, alongside a larger selection of older titles returning to Steam and GOG.
All 25 games became available on November 5, 2026, with introductory discounts scheduled to remain active until November 19.
The restoration project is part of EA's effort to preserve its older games and make them accessible on modern hardware without requiring players to configure outdated software manually.
Seven EA Classics Receive Modern Improvements
The seven restored games include anniversary editions of Road Rash and several entries from the Wing Commander franchise.
These versions introduce quality of life improvements, modern compatibility enhancements, controller support and upgraded full motion video sequences.
EA has also used original master tapes to restore video footage at higher resolutions, improving the presentation of games that relied heavily on cinematic sequences.
The seven restored titles are:
| Game | Restored edition |
|---|---|
| Road Rash | 30th Anniversary Edition |
| Wing Commander | 35th Anniversary Edition |
| Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi | 35th Anniversary Edition |
| Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger | 30th Anniversary Edition |
| Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom | 30th Anniversary Edition |
| Wing Commander Prophecy | 30th Anniversary Edition |
| Privateer 2: The Darkening | 30th Anniversary Edition |
Some versions also incorporate improvements originally developed by community contributors.
EA Also Brings Back Ultima, Theme Hospital and More
Alongside the seven restored games, EA has released another 18 classic titles through Steam and GOG.

These include Wing Commander: Privateer, Wing Commander: Academy, Wing Commander: Armada, Strike Commander, Theme Hospital and the Crusader games.
The company has also restored access to several Ultima titles, including Ultima I through Ultima IX and both Ultima Underworld games.
Unlike the seven anniversary editions, these additional releases are described primarily as returning classics rather than receiving the same extensive restoration treatment.
EA Preserved 2,500 Hours of Historical Footage
The restoration initiative began in 2022 under senior producer Jim Vessella, who previously worked on Command & Conquer Remastered Collection.
Vessella and a small development team examined EA's physical archives to locate original game assets and master recordings.
The project involved digitizing approximately 2,500 hours of historical footage, helping preserve materials that might otherwise become increasingly difficult to access.
Those recovered assets also provided the foundation for improving the cinematic sequences included in several restored games.
The initiative demonstrates how original development materials can support modern rereleases while retaining the identity of older titles.
With all 25 games now available on Steam and GOG, players can revisit EA's earlier PC releases with introductory discounts lasting until November 19, 2026.
