Dispatch Launches on Xbox Series X and Series S on July 29

AdHoc Studio’s superhero workplace comedy Dispatch will launch on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows through the Microsoft Store on July 29, 2026.

The Xbox release arrives around nine months after the game first appeared on Steam and PlayStation 5. Dispatch was confirmed for Xbox during the Xbox Partner Preview showcase in March, but the announcement only provided a broad summer release window at the time.

The Microsoft Store listing now confirms the exact launch date and Xbox Play Anywhere support. This means one digital purchase will provide access across supported Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, and compatible handheld devices using the Xbox app.

Save progress and achievements should also move between supported devices, making it easier to continue the story away from a console.

The complete story will be available from launch

Dispatch originally released in an episodic format, with new parts of the story arriving over time. Xbox players will not need to wait between episodes because the complete experience will be available on the first day.

The story follows Robert Robertson, also known as Mecha Man. After his mechanical suit is destroyed during a battle with his main enemy, Robert takes a job at a superhero dispatch centre.

He is no longer working as a frontline hero. Instead, he must manage a team of former supervillains who are trying to rebuild their reputations and use their abilities for better purposes.

Robert must assign the right team member to each emergency, manage relationships inside the office, and work toward repairing his suit. His choices influence how characters respond to him and how parts of the story develop.

The game combines conversations and branching story decisions with a management system built around superhero emergencies. Players must examine each situation and decide which hero is best suited for the task.

Sending the wrong person may reduce the chance of success, create new problems, or affect how the team views Robert. The system gives the game more structure than a traditional dialogue focused adventure.

Former Telltale developers shaped the branching narrative

AdHoc Studio includes developers who previously worked at Telltale Games. That experience is reflected in Dispatch through its dialogue choices, character relationships, and decisions that can influence later events.

The game places a strong focus on workplace conversations and the personalities of its unusual cast. Robert must deal with disagreements, personal problems, rivalries, and romantic possibilities while also managing daily emergencies.

The former villains under his supervision have different abilities and temperaments. Some may be powerful but unreliable, while others may perform better under particular conditions.

Choosing a hero is therefore about more than matching a power to a problem. Relationships, confidence, and past decisions may also affect the outcome.

The comedy comes from the contrast between dramatic superhero situations and ordinary workplace pressures. Robert must handle schedules, difficult colleagues, and office politics while trying to rebuild his own career.

Dispatch has already sold more than four million copies

Dispatch has reportedly sold more than four million copies across its existing PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo platforms.

The Nintendo version launched in January, while the Xbox edition followed later because it was not part of the original release schedule.

Its commercial success shows that there is strong interest in narrative games that combine humour, character development, and light management mechanics.

No sequel or downloadable expansion has been announced. AdHoc Studio has not confirmed whether it plans to continue the story after the Xbox launch.

The Xbox release could bring another large audience to the game, particularly because of Play Anywhere support. Players who use both a console and PC will not need to purchase separate copies.

Xbox version will avoid the censorship seen on Nintendo hardware

The Xbox release will include the original content without the censorship that attracted attention around the Nintendo Switch 2 edition.

The exact presentation may still follow platform rules, but the Xbox version is expected to match the uncensored releases already available on PC and PlayStation.

This will be important for players who want the complete version of the game without edited visual or narrative material.

Dispatch will launch on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows on July 29. With the full episodic story included from the beginning and support for Xbox Play Anywhere, the new version should be the most flexible option for players who regularly switch between console, PC, and handheld devices.
