Crimson Desert has received its first major summer update, and the focus is clear: Pearl Abyss wants Re-Blockades to feel more useful, more rewarding, and less frustrating. The new 1.10.00 patch is now rolling out on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC with changes to stronghold defense, new mounts, new mini-games, controller improvements, combat fixes, and many quality of life updates.
Re-Blockades are one of the main systems being adjusted. This feature allows enemy armies to return and attempt to reclaim strongholds that players have already liberated. The idea is strong on paper, but players have criticized it because the rewards did not always feel worth the effort and stronghold defense options were limited.
The new patch tries to fix that by improving the flow before and after these encounters. Re-Blockades now include Battle and Reconstruct stages, giving the activity more structure. For major strongholds, players can also request Protection through the contribution assessor in each region. This can help suppress Re-Blockades and give players more control over how they manage liberated areas.
The rewards are also being improved. Liberating strongholds can now provide contribution, provisions, trade goods, and other items. That matters because repeat combat activities need a clear reason to exist. If defending a stronghold takes time and resources, the reward loop has to feel meaningful.
New mounts and mini-games give players more reasons to explore
The update is not only about combat. Pearl Abyss has added a new Wyvern mount and a new Kuku Bird Chick pet. Baby Wyverns and Kuku Bird Chicks can grow after being fed, and once they reach a certain growth level, they can be registered as special mounts. New mount and pet equipment has also been added, including the Wyvern Saddle, Small Kuku Bird Eggshell, and Small Wyvern Aviator Hat.
| New feature | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Re-Blockade improvements | Better structure, defense options, and rewards |
| Protection requests | Helps suppress Re-Blockades at major strongholds |
| Wyvern mount | New special mount option |
| Kuku Bird Chick | New pet that can grow into a special mount |
| Pinball | New mini-game near the Delesyian Institute |
| Orb Roll | New mini-game at the Great Gate of Urdavah |
| Pet growth UI | Lets players check pet and horse growth levels |
Two new mini-games also arrive with this patch. Pinball has been added to the inn near the Delesyian Institute, along with a Marni Token Exchange where players can trade tokens for rewards such as artifact chests, furniture, gear crafting recipes, and other items. Orb Roll has been added at the Great Gate of Urdavah, with rewards including a golden apple, carpets, lights, artifacts, and material boxes.

These additions help Crimson Desert feel less focused only on combat. Mini-games, pets, housing items, and mounts give players more small goals between major battles. The new carpet category and added dyehouse items also support players who enjoy decorating and customization.
The update also includes several control and combat changes. Controller interaction behavior has been adjusted so the basic interaction button no longer acts as a long press when using the default preset. Axiom Force button customization has been improved, and keyboard and mouse secondary key settings should now save correctly.
Combat changes include a new ground attack skill for Blackstar, adjustments to Damiane’s unarmed skill damage, better arrow replenishment behavior, and fixes tied to boss battle item slot changes. Several bugs affecting attacks, mounts, quests, pets, camera behavior, inventory, rain rendering, and UI have also been addressed.
This is a wide patch, but its most important message is that Pearl Abyss is responding quickly. Re-Blockades needed stronger rewards and clearer defensive mechanics, and this update directly targets those complaints. The extra mounts and mini-games make the patch feel broader than a simple bug fix release.
Crimson Desert still needs more polish in several areas, but 1.10.00 is a useful first step for the summer roadmap. Pearl Abyss has already said more updates are planned, including cross-platform saving, combat improvements for Damiane and Oongka, non-combat quality of life changes, and story adjustments. If future patches keep this pace, Crimson Desert could become stronger over the next few months.
