Cooler Master Adds GPU Shield Monitoring to MWE Gold V4 Power Supplies

Cooler Master has launched its MWE Gold V4 power supply series with a new GPU Shield feature aimed at systems using modern graphics cards with 12V 2x6 power connectors. The new lineup includes 1000W, 850W and 750W models, with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 support across the series.

The launch follows earlier preorder listings in China, where the 850W model appeared for 659 RMB, or around $97. The US listings are now live, with the 850W model priced at $139.99 and the 1000W model priced at $159.99. Cooler Master says both models are available for preorder, with shipping scheduled to begin on June 12.

The MWE Gold V4 series is fully modular and includes a native 12V 2x6 connector for high power graphics cards. That makes it relevant for newer RTX graphics cards and other GPUs that use the latest power connector standard. But the main feature is not simply the connector itself. Cooler Master is also building in active monitoring through GPU Shield Intelligent Current Management.

GPU Shield is designed to warn you before power problems get worse

Cooler Master describes GPU Shield as a patent pending system that monitors current behavior, detects abnormal power conditions, triggers active protection in real time, and uses LED alerts to warn the user. The goal is to give the power supply a smarter role in protecting expensive graphics cards and their power connections.

This feature is clearly aimed at the same concern that has surrounded high power GPU connectors for the past few years. When a graphics card pulls hundreds of watts through a compact connector, proper seating, cable quality, current balance, and protection features become more important.

Cooler Master previously showed GPU Shield as both a PSU side feature and a separate adapter. With the MWE Gold V4, the company is bringing that protection directly into the power supply. That should make the feature cleaner for buyers who do not want another adapter between the PSU and GPU.

The LED alert system could also be useful during troubleshooting. If a system has an unstable GPU power connection, abnormal current behavior, or a possible connector issue, a visible warning may help the owner react before the problem causes shutdowns or hardware damage.

The new series also focuses on efficiency and internal protection

The MWE Gold V4 series carries an 80 Plus Gold rating. Cooler Master says the units can reach more than 90 percent efficiency at typical loads in a 115V testing environment. That level of efficiency is expected for a modern mid to high end PSU, but it still matters for heat, fan noise, and long term operating cost.

Cooler Master is also using a digital control IC for PFC and LLC tuning. In simple terms, this helps the PSU manage power conversion more precisely. The units also use a wave type heatsink to improve internal airflow and a protective coating for internal components.

Those details matter because modern PSUs are being asked to handle sharper power spikes from CPUs and GPUs. ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 support should help the MWE Gold V4 deal with newer graphics cards more reliably than older PSU designs.

The 850W and 1000W models are the focus of the current preorder launch. The 750W model is listed as part of the family, but Cooler Master’s launch note highlights preorder availability for the higher wattage versions first.

The MWE Gold V4 targets mainstream high end gaming PCs

Unlike extreme 3000W class workstation power supplies, the MWE Gold V4 series is aimed at realistic gaming and creator builds. A 750W, 850W or 1000W PSU is much closer to what many buyers would choose for a modern desktop with one powerful graphics card.

The 850W model should fit many upper midrange and high end gaming PCs, while the 1000W model gives more headroom for premium GPUs, high power CPUs, overclocking, or future upgrades. The fully modular design should also help with cleaner builds, especially in cases where cable routing is tight.

GPU Shield is the feature that makes the series stand out. A native 12V 2x6 connector is now becoming common on newer PSUs, but active monitoring gives Cooler Master a clearer selling point. It turns the PSU from a passive power source into something that can actively watch for problems around one of the most sensitive connections in a modern gaming PC.

The 10 year warranty also helps position the MWE Gold V4 as a long term upgrade rather than a cheap replacement. Power supplies are often reused across several builds, so buying one with current connector standards and built in protection may make sense for users planning to keep their system for years.

For most gaming PCs, the new 850W and 1000W models will be the most relevant. They offer modern standards, a native GPU connector, Gold rated efficiency, modular cabling, and active current monitoring at prices that sit within the normal range for quality gaming power supplies. GPU Shield will need real world testing, but on paper, it is a useful response to the growing importance of safer high power GPU connections.
