Be Quiet Light Mount TKL Brings the Quiet Gaming Keyboard to a Smaller Layout

Be Quiet is making a smaller version of its Light Mount gaming keyboard, giving players a tenkeyless option for desks where the full size model takes up too much space. The new Light Mount TKL was shown at Computex 2026 and is expected to launch in August, though Be Quiet has not announced the price yet.

The original Light Mount earned strong praise because it managed to do something many gaming keyboards claim but few deliver: it stayed genuinely quiet while still feeling like a proper gaming keyboard. The new TKL version keeps the same core idea, but removes the number pad to make the board more compact and easier to fit into smaller setups.

That should make it especially useful for players who need more mouse space. Full size keyboards can be awkward in fast shooters or low sensitivity mouse setups because they take up so much desk room. A TKL board keeps the function row, arrow keys, and navigation cluster, but cuts the number pad, giving a cleaner balance between usability and space saving.

Be Quiet has not confirmed whether the smaller version will be cheaper than the full size model. The original Light Mount costs around $170, so a lower price would make the TKL model easier to recommend. However, smaller keyboards do not always cost less, especially when they keep premium features.

The TKL version keeps the quiet design philosophy

The Light Mount keyboard uses three layers of sound dampening foam and factory lubricated switches to reduce typing noise. That is the main reason the full size model stood out. It was not silent, but it delivered a softer, more controlled sound than many gaming keyboards.

The TKL model should appeal to players who want a keyboard that works well for both gaming and everyday typing. Many gaming keyboards focus heavily on speed, RGB lighting, and switch hype, but sound and comfort matter just as much for long sessions. A quieter keyboard can make a big difference if you play late at night, share a room, stream, or work near other people.

The full size Light Mount also included hot swappable 5 pin switch support, per key RGB lighting, and a media wheel. Those features help it feel like a complete premium keyboard rather than a quiet board with limited gaming appeal. If the TKL version keeps that same feature set, it could become one of the stronger compact quiet gaming keyboards available this year.

Smaller keyboards make more sense for modern gaming desks

The move to TKL is a practical one. More players are choosing smaller layouts because they offer more room for mouse movement without going as compact as 60 percent or 65 percent boards. TKL keeps important keys that many people still use, while cutting only the number pad.

For Be Quiet, this layout is also a good match for the Light Mount’s identity. The original keyboard was already aimed at players who care about comfort and daily use, not only competitive specs. A TKL model makes it easier to fit into both gaming and work setups.

The main unknown is pricing. If Be Quiet can bring the TKL version in below the full size model by a meaningful amount, it will be much more attractive. If it lands too close to $170, it will face tough competition from other premium compact boards, including magnetic switch and rapid trigger models.

That said, the Light Mount’s strength is different. It is not trying to be the fastest esports keyboard on the market. It is trying to be quiet, comfortable, well built, and pleasant to use every day. That gives it a clearer identity than many boards chasing the same performance buzzwords.

Be Quiet is also expanding its desk setup lineup

Alongside the Light Mount TKL, Be Quiet also announced the Mousepad XL, a large 900 x 500 mm desk mat designed to hold both a keyboard and mouse. It uses a 3 mm anti slip rubber base and a soft fabric surface intended for smooth mouse glide and wrist comfort.

The company also showed the Pure Base 803 case, which supports back connect motherboards, up to seven hard drives, up to three 420 mm radiators, and two 140 mm rear fans. That suggests Be Quiet is continuing to build out a wider ecosystem of quieter, cleaner PC hardware rather than focusing only on coolers and fans.

Still, the Light Mount TKL is likely the more immediately interesting product for many gamers. The full size Light Mount already proved that a quiet gaming keyboard can still feel premium and capable. A smaller version makes that same idea more practical for people with limited desk space.

If Be Quiet gets the price right, the Light Mount TKL could become a strong choice for anyone who wants a compact gaming keyboard that does not sound sharp, hollow, or distracting. It keeps the quiet focus that made the original stand out while moving into a layout that fits modern gaming setups much better.
